Religious Jews tend to try and avoid swearing oaths as much as possible, though we can usually get permission to "affirm" the oath which the court officer says. If we do wish to swear the oath, we have legal right to request it be made on the Tanak, which holds the books that Christians refer to as the "Old Testament."

Bibles are being used less and less in courtrooms. People make an oath to tell the truth.

A Jew can use the Tanakh (what Christians call the OT).

The Bible is no longer used. You just make an oath to the court that you will note lie and you understand that if you do you can be charged with perjury

I guess so. I haven't heard any complaints about it. It sounds weird though. Because if they don't believe in the bible, does swearing on it, have any value at all? Not that all christians who believe in the bible always tell the truth in the court.

Actually, the defendant has a choice of either placing his/her hand on a bible or a secular swearing. But I believe that it is just secular.

The bible is Jewish, at least the Old Testament is. They also have the Talmud, I don't know exactly what that is though.
