If the computer restarts because of a problem, it is best to let it.
If you dont then you end up with either the dreaded 'blue screen of death' or a page of computer tech-speak letting you know what the problem is.
If you still want to, then go to control panel, choose advanced, and Start-up and Recovery settings.
Make sure the box saying automatic restart is not checked.

if you are using XP, increasing the virtual memory sometimes will do the trick!
here is the process
right click on My Computer>Select Advanced Tab>Click on Setting button in Performance Group>Click on Advanced Tab>Click on change button and increase the virtual memory
