If I commit a crime in the USA then sneak back into Mexico, will Mexico deport me back to the USA for bank robbery or am I safe south of the boarder? Any examples or Internet links on the subject would be helpful. Thanks.

I ask because several cop killers are wanted in Los Angeles. They skipped south of the boarder and the Mexican Government will not turn them over to the US. It's a serious question and I don't appreciate the comments on my ethnicity!

It is EXTREMELY rare for a Mexican National to be extradited from Mexico to the USA for a crime committed in the USA.
However, Mexico will extradite US Citizen back to the USA for crimes (unless you are heir to a cosmetic company and/or have lots of money).
If you are an American who committed a crime in Mexico, Mexico will demand your extradition back to Mexico especially if you have your own successful television series and/or you have money.
Usually, "Mexican Justice" can be purchased.
Any US Citizen who goes to Mexico is STUPID!

If you are Mexican, Mexico would not deport you. If you are from El Salvador or some other country, Mexico could deport you. If you are planning to rob a bank, then it's possible you might be extradited for this, and if you carried a lot of cash into Mexico you could be arrested by the Mexican authorities.

If they can establish your indentity, the US government can request your EXTRADITION to the US to stand trial.
This is EXTRADITION - NOT DEPORTATION. a citizen cannot be deported from his/her own country. (except perhaps by the CIA, under the GWB doctrine)
If a US citizen committed a crime here, and then fled to Mexico (or Canada,) again this would require extradition procedures. - assuming they CAN FIND THE PERSON. A US Citizen could be deported back back to the US, only if they commited a crime in say Mexico - after they serve their time in a Mexican jail.

More than likely you will be sent to Mexican jail for being an illegal immigrant in Mexico. Mexico will not extradite you for being there illegally (look at all of the criminals they are protecting already.) So if they arn't going to do anything about them why would they do something about you.

You are clearly asking a hyppotheical question. Mexico will more likely EXTRADITE you, although they could deport you. There is a valid extradition treaty between the USA and Mexico. I know of many cases of extradition in such situations. And see: http://www.escapingjustice.com/extrafpo.htm
If you go to LexisONE http://www.lexisone.com/lx1/caselaw/freecaselaw?action=FCLDisplayCaseSearchForm&l1loc=L1ED (free registration required) and search under "all federal cases" for you will find 67 hits, some of which may be useful to you.

I understand Mexico has just passed or is considering a law not to allow extradition for crimes which could give a death penalty or life sentence. Other than that, yeah, you're toast.

Yes, the U.S. and Mexico have an informal reciprocity agreement where they will turn over criminals regardless of legal status and the U.S. will do the same.
