The god of the gaps would take yet another step backwards. But people would still backpeddle their way into finding a way to believe in it.
Just looking at moderate Christians today... you can already see that they have very little in common with their ancestors.

Wouldn't affect my religious beliefs at all thankfully. That's because religion shouldn't stay stagnant, but should change as new revelations come up. Honestly, it's a great thing to think about. I'd prefer to find life that had different religious beliefs, hopefully to shock both Christians and preferably atheists as well, as both sides seem to be rather irrational in their own way. It'd be an even bigger plus if the species had proof and evidence (besides "Our space book is better than yours") of what they believed in as well.

It would contradict the spirit of scripture which shows that God is a God of order and structure. If he created a planet, he would create it as a fully formed ecosystem. Now I do believe those places exist, but we will not see them till we get to heaven. So if we found microscopic life on other planets, it would be a major blow to Christianity. That is why I do not believe we will ever find life on mars or Jupiter's moons no matter how much water they have. But not finding life would not really be a blow to evolution, even though it should be.

I do not know what it would do to "religion" in general since that includes christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Muslim...on and on...
As a believer in the bible, and Jesus...I cannot say that it would bother me one bit. After all, God is the designer of this planet...the more the merrier in my opinion. There are actually christian sci fi books...Kathy Tyers (who has written for Star Wars series) wrote several books about the possibility of a savior that comes to galaxies of planets...called The Firebird Trilogy. Very fascinating series of books...
I think sometimes people forget...alot of sci fi and fantasy writers happen to be christians... C.S. Lewis...and J.R.R. Tolkien for example.
It appears that we have jobs to do when we are no longer on earth...the bible talks of it... could have to do with other forms of creation. And, that debunks the idea of many people thinking that Heaven is gonna be a boring place.
One thing...I am not gonna limit God... He is the creator, not me.

There is nothing in the Bible that rules out extra-terrestrial life. Many Christians like me, would have no problem with it. And, as a Star Trek fan, I'd actually love to have life discovered elsewhere in the universe. Don't forget, the Bible actually acknowledges UFOs. Ezekiel's wheel is a classic example of that. Besides, who is to say that God only created us, and only in one spot. I think some people would undergo a crisis of faith though. I know people who absolute refuse the possibility of alien life.

No. there's no longer something in my ideals approximately deities and spirituality that contradicts with that. I revere the spirits of nature, and nature is the finished Universe. The Universe and the planet weren't geared up around us, we are area of it. i may well be very shocked to check that there's no longer existence someplace else, given the type of planets and the wonders of version and evolution. The statistical threat that there is existence someplace else is astronomically (with the purpose to communicate) extensive.

Biblically speaking, nothing. Although the Bible does not directly say that there is not extraterestrial life, it does not say that there is either. I don't personally think there would be anything significant belief changes about the bible or God if aliens were to turn out to be true. God would still be God and Sin will be sin and God saved us from our Sins through Jesus whether or not there are aliens.
