Devilish: FYI since you are obviously against me questioning their faith, then they should never question mine. Hence their faith continues to try to be a bigger part of society and wants back into schools, etc, they are constantly questioning my faith (of not believing in God). So either we have equity in the system and they keep their God and faith in their churches or they need to get used to being called on it when their faith impeeds mine.

Panda: If it is God's words in the Bible, then are you going to kill people for working on the Sabbath (as God states Exodus 25:2), or sell your daughter into slavery Exodus 21:7? Or are you going to just pick bits and pieces that suit your needs?

Da G Man: Most bible bashers are only pointing out the fact that Christians state that the bible is God's words and God is a perfect being, yet there are contradictions in the bible and parts of the bible that they say no longer applies. How can a perfect being create something that is not perfect? How does God who is all knowing create something that will not always apply? How dare Christians think that parts of God's words can be disregarded as no longer applying? And who gets to choose what applies and what does not?

meiskull: quoting a trig text is quoting a provable fact. The bible was written by men, when are Christians going to finally admit that, the Bible was written by men and a God can neither be proved nor disproved. However the Christian god can be disproved.

Born Again Christian: I have quoted the bible in prior questions and answers and been told that the quote which was from a part of the bible that was no longer applicable. Who chooses what is no longer applicable of the words written by a perfect being. I think that problem is that Christians can not wrap their minds around that term perfect, it means without fault. That you can not question or change anything God has written in your book at any point in time. A change in the bible, or ignoring sections, would mean God is not perfect.

Because Christians have trouble thinking for themselves. It is a foreign concept to them since they have been spoon-fed Biblical mumbo-jumbo for so long. When asked a question, they must immediately see what the Bible tells them they should think.

They quote from it because it's an authority, and true. It's also alive and capable of working on someone from the inside, breaking down the barriers they've erected against the truth, whether it be a rationality-focused pseudologic or something more personal and emotional. Most people don't truly have intellectual problems with the Bible and God, they have problems of the will. They want to live as they wish, and dislike the idea of a higher authority to which they will be responsible for their choices. So they look for reasons to reject a Christian concept of the universe, to give themselves permission and freedom to do as they please. Most intellectual types, even if their every question and objection to Christianity is answered and defeated, still will not believe. Because it's not that they CAN not believe, but that they WILL not.
There are times though, when it's useful to show WHY the Bible should be trusted as true and of divine origin. There are lots of ways to go about this, such as the wealth of prophecy that came true, to the scientific knowledge contained in it that was unknown in ancient times, to the internal evidence - comparing Scripture against Scripture.
Scientific evidence and archeology can be brought to bear as well.

Well I to used to hate Christians,I never believed in any of it, I was blind, but now I see. So I never give up on any one, Maybe that is what your Christian friends are trying to do...feed you food of the spirit, the word of God. If you do not have the Holy ghost, then it is the best place to go; to come to the knowledge of who God is,and learn of Him. He...God is the author.
Christians believe in what the Bible says as being the truth, So they use it to support what they are talking about. Your love of God is all that matters, may I one day call you brother..in that day the heavens will rejoice indeed, til then peace my friend.
Is the bible all as it should be..is it perfect...No no why would you even ask that question,it is not 100% with out error indeed, any one with 1/2 an IQ knows that, right.
But I do not put God into a little book,The bible is to me an experience of indoctrination,in an integrated manner, of that it becomes alive, and an awesome spirit comes from that union of the indoctrination integrated into a oneness. We the so called indoctrinated then have the same language,we have the same faith,we have the same hope,we have the same knowledge,or we want to learn it. All this because of a bible that has errors?
No indeed it is perfect!

That is the difference between faith and a false profession of faith. Religions are pretty much godless, they are power structures like any form of government.
I have a strong faith in a Creator and could give a fig less what you believe or don't.
The whole thing about preaching and "saving" others has always been part and parcel of expanding the power of the people running the various religions.
You may have noticed that in the Muslim faith, many will hold their hands as if reading the Koran. That same blind faith by the illiterate has carried over in all religions to the semi-literate who will quot a portions of a text out of context without understanding.
At least the Koran tells people to be distrustful of those who interpret it for their own ends. The Bible no longer has that warning in it.

It's to try to over power the other person. Just bec., you have memorizes the bible really doesn't mean anything. I have too but so has the devil. I think it's funny. everyone has their own belief. Brainwashing won't work on ever one. I believe God will take all different people and belief. (Bec from a Christan point of view 80-90% of the world is going to hell). How if God going to fight a war if 80-90 is in hell)
I believe doing good acts is stronger than showing up to Church to get that photo.
*PS my grandfather was a minister and the biggest con-artist!
*The reason why I believe there is a God is bec I've seen some really super natural stuff. You just have to see a ghost , angel or a devil. I know that'll change most peoples minds

why cant non beleivers mind their own buisness and stop ?ing our beliefs?
Do you get a joy out of trying to find flaws in peoples beliefs?
If what i quote has no effect on you then why would you ask another question about my beleifs and faith.
Oviously you are somewhat interested in what i and others have to say, or you would just leave it alone .
If you really want to know that bad read the Holy Bible
King James Version
If the bible or my faith or what i say doesnt effect you at all, thats your problem i did my part by telling you of my faith and how you can receive the same that we have. If you choose to ignore it then you have no excuss when your time is at hand.
You will say what you want, but now you know so now you can never say that you never knew.
The fault will be all of your own.

Because they haven't been urged to think and reason for themselves. They have been taught that the Bible is the word of God and go there for their answers. This is a weakness within the Christian community that I would I wish that I could rectify. The rock that Christ taught that we should build our faith upon 1is a deep abiding relationship with Him that requires all of or heart mind and strength to develop Unfortunately there are many religious leaders who teach a simpler message. Christ said that there would be many who would say "Lord,Lord" but he would say
"Get Ye hence, for you never knew me".

Lets say you had a book that described and had supporting facts in in that theres no God. if you were confronted or just had a conversation with someone who disagreed with you about you not believing theres a God .wouldn't you quote some indisputable facts from your book to support your theory's.theres many facts to support that theirs no God and there facts that support there being a God so why not tell people some facts. This is what most people have to support there religion .A Book.what ever religion there into. I on the other hand have seen and witnessed some supernatural miracles and I always tell people IF there interested a few of the miracles I have seen. and if I told you about some of them you would not believe me.I do not argue with people about religion or God or the Spirit of God.why should I?I wish you the best. Christians are imitating the example of Jesus who himself deferred to his father's written word as a defense. It may be that persons do not know you do not believe in God. It may also be that they intend to take the first opportunity to help you to appreciate that there is a God. Many people who did not believe in God now do so and were helped to do so by Christians who were able to use the Bible.
For instance, many people do not believe in God because they cannot reconcile a "God of love" with one who could look upon such misery in life and not step in to do something about it. Christians who have learned to use the Bible effectively were able to reason with such a one, helping that one to see the solid evidence for not only believing in God but also for believing that the Bible is his word. They were also given satisfactory explanations for why God "seems" to not be doing anything.

the Bible is the foundation of our faith. It is the same as an atheist quoting from a source that we disagree with. It does not matter that it has an impact on you or not or that it will change your mind- it is just stating why we believe what we believe.
Respectfully, noo matter how good or bad our relationship is and how much we share it is virtually impossible for you to fully understand my life experiences, my relationships or my understanding and vice versa- I can only explain to you why I don't believe certain things and use the explanations for what I believe are going to be straight from the foundation and source of why I belive what I believe and when you explain to me why you believe what oyu do- oyu will use the sources that are the reasons why you believe that whether or not I agree with them or believe it . This is going to be tue for anyone- it is not offensive ot me- it is just life. I don't see why it would be offensive or even odd to anyone else.

Most people who are not Christians and question the elements of the faith are more moved by empirical evidence than by personal opinion. By responding with the Bible, we put the burden of proof back in the lap of the questioner. It is now their responsibility to prove or disprove the evidence we provide. It isn't difficult to simply say, "I choose not to believe," but since the majority of questioners demand evidence as to why we believe, we instinctively refer them to our source, and anyone who has honestly examined the Bible without bias will acknowledge that this is a book written outside of time and one that originates outside of man's ability. We don't understand it all, but we know it is a greater source of wisdom and knowledge than we can offer to the questioner. Whether they believe in our God or not does not negate the fact of His existence.
This is a book that is timeless, foretells the future of nations, specific men, worldwide events and social conditions. It explains the reasons behind present conflicts, nationally and internationally. It demonstrates a knowledge of space, time, science, history, mathematics, culture, the spiritual realm and creation itself that is far beyond the capabilities of the men who were used to write it. It foretells the current battles with the nation and land of Israel, an undisputable fact that one can read in their own newspaper everyday.
One such man who sought to prove once and for all that ALL religions ignored known scientific knowledge is Astrophysicist Hue Ross. He studied the Bible diligently for 18 months, and at the end of his study, he signed his name in the back, accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, then wrote a book and started a ministry to scientists entitled, "Reasons to Believe." He now tours the country discussing the scientific proof that the Bible couldn't possibly be written by men alone, and that science offers proof of God's existence and the Bible's validity. Former Government cryptologist Dr. Chuck Missler also explains how the Bible is like no other book on the planet in his book, "Cosmic Codes."
There is evidence of God, my friend, and it begins with a sincere, critical examination of the world's #1 best seller, the Bible.
