I've been a Christian for years, but I do consider myself too liberal for most "Chistians." Correct me if I'm wrong, but Christ preached that we should love our neighbors unconditionally, as we would want to be loved. He didn't say "straight" neighbors, he didn't say "conservative" neighbors, he didn't say "Christian" neighbors. He just said "neighbors." And yet there are more Christians out there who seem to be so filled with hatred towards homosexuals and liberals that I wonder if they even know the truth anymore. Don't these people realize they're pushing people away from Christianity with their thoughtless words and actions? I didn't become a Christian until my mid-twenties. This is because I didn't want to be a hate-filled hypocrate pointing my finger and parading in my own self-righteousness. When are Christians going to learn the only thing that separates us from sinners is the concept of God's grace?

You are right! Very right!

God says that we are to correct eachother (fellow believers) so that they will not stray, and if they stray, we are to rescue them. We are responsible for eachother.

But, we are not to correct unbelievers.

I try to have God's mind. God hates the sin, but loves the sinner.

I don't approve of homosexuality, but I love the homosexual. I have several friends and a family member who is gay.

Jesus ate dinner with sinners. We are to follow in His footsteps.

There are some Christians who judge as you say, but look deeply and you will find a majority of us feel as I do.

Yes we are to love all, but when you love someone you do not sit back and watch them hurt themselves. Do you? You speak up and try to stop the behavior or sin. That is not hatred. Yes there are some who cross the line and condemn people to Hell and hate them for their actions. That is not how a Christian should act. But people who believe Jesus is a liberal are wrong. He never said go ahead and do whatever you think is right and I'll accept that. He set the rules and doesn't want anyone to break them. We will be forgiven for our sins if we ask and turn away from those sins.

May God Bless you.

THANK YOU....this is the reason why I too have been pushed away from Christianity. In my eyes, being liberal is the best thing a human can be. God put you on this earth to learn and to love others. Being homosexual is NOT a sin in my eyes. God made the homosexuals too, so how can it be a sin? The words of the Bible can NOT be applied to today's society. In my opinion, the extreme or "uber-Christians" are taking the Bible way too literally.

I have been saying the same thing for years. It's nice to know that I am not the only that feels this way. The unfortunate part is, those people that think that way, don't necessarily think that they are wrong. They chose to twist faith to morph into something that best suits them and their belief. So, to answer your question, I don't think they will ever come to that realization. It's sad but it's true. You and I both know that if they would open their eyes and their minds more and their mouths less, there would most definitely be less hatred, but I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

Why do so-called Christians like to pretend that God is some kind of fluffy teddy bear who loves everyone and hates no one? Do they not read the Bible at all?

(Matthew 10:34-37) Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to send peace to earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in- law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

(Romans 9:11-13) Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God's purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls—she was told, "The older will serve the younger." Just as it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

God hates people even before they're born! He hates them before they've done a thing! This is God's way. Learn to live with it, or end up on His bad side!

Your tolerance is commendable. People whom you speak of may believe in Christian ways, but have yet to evolve to the level of evolution where they understand what they are here to do. Evolution is a difficult path for many to follow. Especially, when their minds and hearts are clouded by the trials and expiations they experience in day to day life on this planet.

Following a faith will assist them, but having a religion, does not change the character of the believer. Only the individual can change themselves.

We are to love the sinner, but hate the sin. Some people who rag on Christians can't seem to separate these two.

Christ died for our sins all of them including the ones we enjoy and want to keep. I believe you are misunderstanding the words hate and disapproval. Also God does not love us unconditionally we are under His judgment until we accept Christ as Savior and Lord and REPENT OF OUR SINS. That said, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves in the sense that we do them good not harm, this command is a summation of the last 6 Commandments not something new in itself.

You sound pretty hateful and vindictive. You need Jesus. Maybe you need deliverance. Visit him again for the first time. Forgiveness is the core of the Gospel, not ridicule. Galatians 5:15 says that we are not to devour one another.
