Inside and outside referrals.

What sort of insurance are you planning to sell?

I suggest you sign up with one of the online insurance lead generators. One I know of personally is Net Quote. As a licensed agent you can purchase leads from Net Quote for a small amount. You do compete against other agents so you must be prepared to respond quickly to any leads you purchase. Net Quote sells life, health, auto, and commercial insurance leads.

Building an insurance business takes a long time and steady determination. Many people view insurance as a necessary evil but if you can convince the right person to get the right insurance at the right time then you're doing everyone a favor. Insurance is an excellent choice for certain people at certain times, a good salesperson understands who his/her target customer is.

From AIG. The company will forward inquires that are looking for insurance in your geographical area. Of course those leads aren't enough to live on you have to go get the rest with your own efforts like, chamber of commerce involvement and run your own ads.

Word of mouth. Plus, you can always add different types of insurance if your company allows you to. I am in the "legal insurance and identity sheild" business and my business partners added this to their insurance as an addition and make a great deal extra, plus help people!
