If your little brother or sister committed a terrible crime, and your father came to you and said the only way your sibling could be forgiven was for you to bleed to death— would you think that was just, or fair?

When even the minds of our more intelligent children can discern the illogical injustice of the atonement doctrine, i.e., that God demanded his innocent Son must suffer, bleed, and die in the place of the guilty offenders— also his sons— how much longer will it take their mothers and fathers to see that this man-made fallacy is based on the primitive and discredited notion that forgiveness only comes from the actual shedding of blood?

The doctrine of atonement is not a man-made fallacy. It comes from God not man.
How is it discredited?
God told Adam and Eve that the penalty of disobedience was death. We are all descended from Adam and Eve and are all sinful and deserving of the death penalty. Indeed we will all die a physical death. The notion of a substitutionary sacrifice is a perfectly logical one, that is easily understandable and reasonable. Clearly we cannot pay our own penalty, but need someone else to pay the penalty for us. Only a sinless person is qualified to pay that penalty.

Heb 9: 22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

In the age when God came down in man form (Jesus), that was the custom and practice. Anyone found guilty of crimes against God or humanity was thus publicly punished. The point or birth of Christianity begun with the resurrection not crucifixion. The human tendency to want revenge and our deep rooted belief in an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth is the one thing that resurrection stands to null and void but we can not seem to or refuse to grasp this concept. Christianity speaks for restoration of life but this is not the understanding conveyed by most professed Christians. We tend to concentrate on the injustices because they are closer to our form and therefore easier to judge or criticize. What a pitiable shame and great stumbling block!

Jesus is God in human form. This was the only way God could make clear to us, because we coulde relate to another human being. He loved us so much that He let his son die on the cross for us. This means, that no more sacrifices are needed. All that is to be done is to accept this gift of God and we are forgiven and saved.
No, no shedding of blood is asked of us, I've never even heard of such a thing.

The problem with these questions on Christianity, is that many non-Christians (not all so don't get offended) don't understand it. People who are asking nasty questions on this site to provoke Christians are also asking questions that are somewhat ridiculous. Do you realize that you don't know enough about it to understand what you are even asking. Do you realize that to say that someone is a Christian is merely saying that they believe Christ was the son of God...everything else is up for discussion. Everyone has an opinion of what Christianity is..it varies even between Christians. This blood shedding thing...you have got to be kidding. Have you ever heard of symbolism? In the case of Christ, I agree with the person who said God and Christ are one in the same. To explain the complexities of the life of Christ might be beyond your capabilities of understanding.

Christians don't forgive sins by the shedding of blood. Only God can do that. God created the world, and thus established its laws. In His plan, for sin to be atoned, there had to be a payment for that sin. Rom 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The only way for that sin to be forgiven is for the offender to be put to death. However, Lucifer was the top angel in heaven, but was built up in pride, and was kicked out of heaven and dubbed the name of Satan and Devil. God created Hell for the Devil and his angels, but the Devil deceived man to fall into sin, so man will follow Satan into hell. The only payment for that sin is death. If we tried to give our life to pay for our sin, it still would not be enough, because we could never satisfy God with that. So, logically speaking, every person is going to hell. However, God in His love sent His only Son to die and shed His blood to pay for our sin. His blood alone is the only needed for us to get to heaven. This is not a fallacy, but very logically explained in the Bible. Also, you can find much information on the web; just do not go to http://lbc1.net/new_page_2.htm

Thats a old testament concept and it dealt with animals. If your refering to the death penalty, God gave secular goverments a degree of self rule untill he's prepared to return the Earth to a theocratic rule. Where the fights begin, is how we all use our opinions in what we think God wants. So I couldn't really condone or condemn captial punishment as God's will. Because if as a majority, we were doing as God wished... then most crimes would be nonexistant. Thus it's a domino effect... ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER!!

You do know that Jesus IS God- See John 1:1
God became flesh, so it was GOD who crucified HIMSELF for those who believe, so that they will inherit eternal life and be washed clean from sin....it was through HIS blood- as He became man, as Jesus Christ. What an awesome thing God has done! And it is a free gift! Out of HIS grace- until you realize and understand that you have sinned against Him, you will not know the beautiful meaning of the gospel.

Shalom,

I can understand where your coming from, Christians refuse to exercise their intellect and logic. They take their doctrine as literal because they are incapable of seeing it any other way. Paul called these type of people carnal or Gentiles. Scriptures aren't literal but they are allegorically portraying the mind of the reader. They were suppose to be used as a catalyst for man to come to know his higher self. But when they got in the hands of the impious, they turned them into fairy tale like stories that has no significance to any individuals. It just kept them shackled to ignorance and sensual things.

The shedding of blood means to crucify the mindset and lifestyle pertaining to the flesh to make room for heavenly things, a consecrated lifestyle and mindset.

Peace

but in his merciful he was shedding his blood for us on the cross.(mercy of God).
