My four year old has up until a few days ago has gone to bed around 2 in the afternoon. But I am trying an experiment. I'm not making them take a nap to see if they quit waking up at 5:30 in the morning. It worked the first day. I don't know what else to try. You could lay down with him until he falls asleep.

Sounds like he's grown out of naps! Some toddlers don't need as much sleep as others.
Instead of telling him to take a nap, why not have "quiet time" instead. Ask him to lay down and give him a book or even put on his favorite movie with the volume low. Give him an hour. If he falls asleep, great! If he doesn't, let him up after the hour is over.

If my daughter's father screamed at me that should be the in simple terms proper aspect in this earth he did. some 4 12 months olds want to nap some do not. I recommend you tell your youngster's father to communicate with you via your attorneys in effortless words any further that way there is no screaming, he would want to imagine two times everytime he has to pay his lawyer $250 to scream at you LOL And butterflykisses is incorrect. not ALL pre faculties or Daycares make 4 12 months olds take naps. The preschool mydaughter will be attending would not actually have "nap time". They do have "quiet time" the position they get a narrative yet there is no sound asleep.

I have a Four year old and a Two year old so Lucky me they get each other tired because of all the running and playing together. But anyways to answer your question at times like that what I do is I put on one of their favorite movies close the Blinds so the room is some what dark but comforting and just lay down with them and of course try not to fall asleep with them because when their asleep that's when I try to get most of my cleaning and work done so.... hope you find some good advice that will come in handy. Good Luck!

Both of my children were done with naps well before age 4. In my experience when they drop the nap they no longer need it. If you force them to nap, they will have such a hard time falling asleep at night.

I would tell him that he doesn't have to go to sleep but its quite time. lay him down where u put him for his naps. I wouldn't give up if he lays down quietly for lets say an hour than that works just as well as a nap

hit them over the head with a hammer! LOL (just kidding! just kidding!) I have one who turned 4 in October and one who will be 4 in March. I found if I turn on a tv show that they like to watch or a video and let them lay on the couch to watch it if they need to sleep they will go to sleep. It's useless to try to "make" them take a nap because if they aren't tired they WILL NOT go to sleep. Good luck!

All children are different; some will take naps and some won'.
My oldest stopped taking his naps as soon as I put him in a youth bed. My two youngest (a girl and a boy), continued taking naps until right before they began school.

jennader has it right.
Down time is all he really needs. Get him away from the TV, books, and toys and lay him in his bed for an hour or so. It gives you a break and sometimes they actually fall asleep!!!

I tell my son he doesnt have to sleep he just has to lay down and listen to music. Sometimes he sleeps sometimes he doesnt but it always give me enough time to get my sanity back for a bit.
