I buy the real small containers and make sure that I close them tight when I am done but when I go back to use it a month or so later it has already started hardening. I end up throwing it and going and buying more. can you soften or moisten it again?

My dad used to with a tiny bit of water. Be sure to blend really well to eliminate lumps. Only do this once or twice because any more & it will take forever to dry.

My husband buys Fast N Final Spackling and uses it once and throws the rest out because it gets hard so the other day I found a large tub of it that had gotten hard and remembered my mom putting bread in brown sugar to keep it soft s0 I stuck a slice in and closed it tight..I forgot about it till he needed some again and when I opened it it was soft as can be.....he thought I was smart, didnt want to tell he it was my moms idea LOL

with compound i cover the top of it with water after i smooth it out flat. (pour it off before you use it next, or just mix it in). with spackle, which is supposed to be kind of dry anyways, add a couple of drops of water before you put it away. then add a few more when you go to use it, if needed. also, store it in the basement in a cool location.
