Here, the shots are $15, and the microchip is $45..However, if you get the good insurance, (AKC offers this plan) it will cover these routine expenses

Your BEST insurance, is to buy from a breeder who has their adult dogs all genetically tested..

Those pups will likely cost more, as genetic testing for the parents costs about $1000 or more each, but the increase in price of pups is well worth it..

your best bet is to call around to vets, ask how much office exams are, vaccines, spays, neuters and the such. also ask if they have after hour care available or if they refer you to an er vet. when they give you the price of vaccines ask if that includes an office visit and deworming. many vets will group it all together in the vaccine price. most vet in my area charge anywhere from $15-$45 for a second vaccine and around $25-$50 for an exam. it can vary widely. microchipping can be done at a vet, but sometimes a shelter will offer it cheaper. the normal cost is around $15-$50 depending on who does it and what company you register the chip with. find an office that you feel comfortable with and is affordable. good luck. and yay for you for researching the breed. make sure you find a reputable breeder also, this can cut down on the health problems with your pup. do not get from a petstore or a breeder that will not let you see where the pup was raised and at least one parent. run do not walk away from these situations, it will only cause heartache later. a good breeder will be very educated on the breed, will be happy to show you their kennel area and one of the parents of the litter. and will be available to you for years to come with questions and problems. good luck. you're definatly on the right track.

It should cost around £25 for its first years primary vaccinations 1st jab around 8 to 10 weeks the second jab 2 weeks after ,then you Waite 1 week before taking your pup out,£10 to£20 for micro chipping and £65 to £80 for neutering which is a must if you don't intend to breed as it can save the dog from many health problems in later life like cancer not to mention unwanted litters.I had a neighbour who owned a cavalier and he dropped dead of a heart attack at two..we had a cavalier as a child who had fits so please make sure you buy from a reputable breeder who is responsible enough to have the pups and parents checked by a vet. Also check the pedigree of the parents..this is provided with a family(of the dog of course!) history so you can tell if there has been too much in breeding.Good for you for doing the research...too many people don't bother so good luck with your new pup!

Your puppy will get a DHLPPC vaccine every two or three weeks until it reaches 16 weeks old. You will also have to decide if you want the Lyme vaccine. He will need two of those, 2 weeks apart, and then a booster every year. Vaccines range from $15 to $25. At 16 weeks, your puppy will get the final DHLPPC, a 1-year rabies, the final Lyme, and bordatella (or kennel cough). This visit will probably range from $100 to $125. Both my dogs and cats have the microchip and it cost about $25. They usually place it when the spay or neuter is being done.

Please be aware that in addition to vaccines, most puppies require deworming and fecal tests for parasites, the spay/neuter surgery, and heartworm/flea/tick preventive medications. Spaying a female dog is generally more expensive than neutering a male dog.

Also, I have insurance on my dogs and it doesn't cover routine care.

The bottom line is that dogs are expensive, and if you are worried about or have money problems, you should maybe wait until a better time.

As your proberly aware it's vital that any litter you go to see should be heart tested and should have had the nessary health tests done.Jabs cost about £50 for both but im at a dear vets and prices vary. When i had my pup microchipped 4yrs ago it was £25 but again prices vary and you can get it done for £15 or even £10.It's good that your taking out insurance as this will cover any major illnesses or accidents your dog may suffer through life.Remember when your pups home socilise it well, you can carry your pup around in your arms untill its had both jabs.Good luck.

In the Uk you're likely to need around £100ish to do both vacs (1st and 2nd),1 months wormer, microchip and the first months insurance... bank on pedigree insurance being around 200 pounds a year. if you are in uk look to insure with marks and spencer and selected the NO EXCESS section as this means you dont ever pay anything for the vet fees other than routine stuff....
they are a lovely breed.... also make sure you take pup to vets soon after getting him or her for a free puppy check - most vets do this ... get them to check out all the main areas of concern for the breed - ie heart...
they are brilliant ..love cavaliers and have cavalier cross myself!

THESE PRICES VARY BY REGION, AND LOCATION.

typically I would say a vaccination which means one injection can mean a cost of $10-60, I have had visits to the vet for rutine vaccination cost over $120. for the first visit to the vet, for the second vac. which included rabies and distemper combo. and I have had second vac appointment which cost $30. the best thing you can do is call the veterinarians in your area for a price quote, and list of services for the second vac appointment. may vets would like to do a fecal test at this appointment, as well as give rabies and the distemper combo, as well as heartworm prevention, and flea control.

Micro chipping is a service which vets may provide, some may not. as such the fees can vary greatly, from $20-60, though I have not microchiped my animals, but I have worked as a military vet tech, and given AVID chips at chip clinic, we charged $10 for the service at the clinic and $20 at the regular appointments. but we also served just military personnel or their immediate families.

Vaccination fees vary depending on the vet, not the breed. Feel free to call around and get prices - most offices have a standard schedule of fees.

You can usually get your pet microchipped by your local humane society for a relatively low fee.

I am of the opinion that you should be prepared to spend money for a pet based on the cost of the puppy. Like buying a car - I can get my Sentra's oil changed for $20, but my friend needs to take her BMW to a dealer and spend at least $50 every 3,000 miles.

I also believe that there are too many homeless animals out there that are in desperate need of a good home. Too many purebreds come from puppy farms and are weak and stupid from inbreeding.

My opinion only, of course.
