I have a friend who never kept soap in her bathroom, no matter where she lived. I took some nice bath and body hand soap this past summer when I was babysitting for her, and went there last month and it is barely used. I always have to look in the tub for shampoo or body wash to use something to wash my hands. I have even asked for her dish detergent before. I just wonder why people have no soap for themselves or guests in the bathroom.

What makes it even more interesting--she is a nurse.

Ew, so what does she do when she's used the toilet? I always carry Purell or some other hand sanitizer with me, so I guess you should do the same especially when you're visiting her place. Seems nasty to me though.

Hard to tell why people do the things they do, but I would think that this stems from the way she was raised. Maybe she uses a hand sanitizer instead, but I think that if that was the case it would be left out. However, you'd think that she'd keep some soap in the bathroom regardless whether she washes regularly or not.

I can't imagine someone - especially a nurse not washing their hands after using the bathroom. Even if she wasn't taught that growing up, she would have learned it in nursing school. Yuck.

1. You can buy a sample size Soft Soap at a place like CVS and when its empty refill it from a larger container that you can keep on hand in your house.

2. I think you may want to ask your friend, "Hey - do you keep the soap in a cabinet or something?" or else, "Hey - how come you never have soap in the bathroom?" I think, too, I'd think a really long time before eating anything at her house.

I don't know anyone who doesn't have soap. Most of the people I know have at least one bottle of liquid hand soap and one bar in the soap dish. I have a selection of soaps, so people have their choice of scents.

I think bathrooms ought to have a selection of soaps, plenty of regular tissues, plenty of toilet tissue, a spray air freshener in case anyone wants to use that, maybe a little hand cream, a hairspray: some sample sizes of aspirin, Tylenol and ibuprofen, and bandaids. If you really want to offer a guest-friendly bathroom you can add a few new, spare, toothbrushes; sample sized toothpaste and mouthwash. Add a nightlight, a pretty clock, and a stack of clean, folder, towels - and your bathroom will make any guest feel at home.

I shouldn't say this but I will anyway since you mentioned she is a nurse. Women that are nurses and waitresses are supposed to be the most dirty house keepers of all professions. Maybe they don't wash their hands either. They, out of all working women, should wash their hands the most. Just imagine how many people they come in contact with all day.

I think that is very interesting.

that is strange. maybe she has some kinds of skin allergy or something. but i have heard people say that you do not have to use soap as long as you rub your hands a lot under the running water to wash away the germs. I do not buy into that though. I think you need soap

i can't tell u why but, i do the same thing. I use shampoo, and dish soap. Mostly shampoo. I wash dishes all the time too.
I don't consider myself not to be clean. I never get sick, or get a cold. Hey thanks for asking this question. I'll keep bar soap in my bathrooms from now on. Try making her aware. Maybe she's not dirty. Maybe she's un-aware like me. Maybe she is a loner and doesn't have many friends come over to her house, like me.

I'd exit the bathroom and wash my hands in another location with available soap, like the kitchen sink.

Not everyone uses soap.
Lots of commercial soaps are bad for the skin some can cause dryness, spots etc....
I never use face soap, i use a PH neutral face wash, some of my acquaintances just use warm water to rub and rinse off with a cold splash.
have you actually spoken to your friend to find out what cleansing regime she uses?

Short of suggesting that she may keep it hidden or sealed somewhere to avoid it being exposed to the air, I can't imagine why.

I'd simply say, I tried to find the soap after using the bathroom and couldn't find any, where is it?

Like someone said above, carry sanitizer in your purse. Or... when you come from her bathroom, go directly to the kitchen and wash your hands with dishsoap there.
