My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 months, and during that 8 months we have been through a lot. The thing is, I think the relationship is not right because of all those things and the only way I can find the strength to push on is if we start over again and leave the past in the past. But how and where do you start all over again? I need advice...perhaps some step by step guidelines...

Starting over is based on your mutual desire to let go of the issues you have dealt with together. There can be no going back over the past. To let go is difficult, but helpful. Think of it this way, you can't get on with the present as long as you look to the past.
If you are in love, live actively in the present--when something happens that reminds you of the past--observe your response--observe his behavior. Be as good to each other as you can be.
Experience as intimate a relationship as you can---nothing lasts forever.

A similar thing happened to me but my boyfriend actually ended our relationship and tells me he wants us to start over. If you want to leave the past where it belongs ( in the past) then that's what you need to do maybe by trying not to talk about it anymore, as long as you keep bringing it up it will still stand between you two. Maybe you should have one last conversation about everything that has been going on and if you both agree that you want to work your relationship out, then also agree on worrying about today and tomorrow, yesterday is already gone. I hope this will help you out at least a little bit.
