There shouldn't be a problem as long as there is adequate water in the humidifier to last all night. I've done the same for my son. Hope she is feeling better soon!

Hi Scott, i am a mother of a 22 month & a 4 1/2 year old girls, I would follow what it says in the instructions but another good tip I was given when I thought my youngest had croup is to sit with her in the bathroom with the shower running & the door shut as the steam helps to open up the airways.

Hope this helps

Jane

My son is just now getting over a bout of croup that has gone on for about 12 days now. I had the a cool mist vaporizer running every night he was sick. I tried the humidifier but he seemed to feel better with the vaporizer. As long as it is a cool mist it will be fine. However, it is advisable that somebody sleep in your daughter's room while she is sick with croup.Croup is not usually serious, but complications can develop and you need to moniter her to make sure she isn't having any stridor. Stridor is classified as difficulty breathing and it could cause serious problems for her. Also, by sleeping in her room you eliminate the worry of the humidifier being safe. Also, make sure it is out of her reach.

both are tremendous, and may no longer advance phlem. The steam ones are not secure for a toddler, because they get very very warm, and if she touches it, can get burned. The cool mist humidifier is what the docs reccomend, and your newborn is secure. notwithstanding, you won't be able to use any chemical compounds in it (in any respect, even ones it comes with, or Vics, and so on), and ensure you adjust the water and sparkling it each and on a daily basis as micro organism builds up in it right now.

A cool mist vaporizier is better - if the humidifer is warm, you run the risk of burns. It's fine to run it all night long for her, and actually helpful to the croup if you do, just make sure she CAN NOT touch it.

Your daughter will be just be fine. Just make sure you put enough water in it for the night. A trick I used to use is to hold my child, sit in the bathroom with the shower on and let the steam help her/him breathe better.
