I dont know of any way to prove it, unless your specialist is willing to do skin sensitivity testing;

It is often extremely difficult to pin down one cause for dermatitis. I developed "non-specific dermatitis" out of the blue 4 years ago. I had to do some doctor-shopping before I found one who was even willing to do any testing. Normally, I was given a prescription-strength cortisone cream and shoved out the door.
After months of testing, I finally had to accept it as "non-specific". No cause, nor cure was ever found. But it did put my mind at ease that it was not anything serious. So I would suggest looking for a doctor who is willing to look for the cause.
Good luck!

Did your specialist gave you other possible names for what your condition is? In any case I would go and see somebody else as surely a specialist should be able to tell you what you have and if not, he/she should run the appropriate test. Good Luck.
