My best friend has a problem with meth. He escorts and sells meth for money. He hasnt seen his family in over two years and hides all of this from them. I have tried to help him change for the past year but have failed. I finally decided to tell his family what has been going on with him. Did I do the right thing?

I'm sure that was very hard for you to do. And he may not thank you for it, at least not right now. It's true, he won't change his life unless he wants to, but maybe his family can help him want to. You didn't do the easy thing, but you did do the right thing. And no matter what happens, you tried to help him, and that's all any of us can do.

ABSOLUTELY!!! You did what a real friend should so in a situation such as this. Meth destroys not only your body and life but it destroys people who care and love a person that is addicted to meth, any drug for that matter. By what I have seen having a Intervention is all most the only way to help a meth addict because the drug has them seeing themselves as OK to where in reality they are a complete and utter mess. Good luck and my prayers are with you and your friend..

Yes, you did the right thing. His family may be able to intervene and get him into rehab. A lot depends on the circumstances, but in some states family members can have other family members involuntarily entered into rehab under certain conditions.

If you were doing this for the right reasons. If you did this to help your friend then absolutely.... My sister did the same thing. It's not an easy decision, but you did the right thing.

You should have done this a long time ago. A good friend will do anything to prevent a friend from harming himself/herself.

Meth addiction is very hard to break. He will have to enter rehab to get serious help.

You are a very good friend indeed if you put his life and well being above your own fears of loosing his friendship.
Even if he never speaks to you again, you may very well be the best friend he ever has.

Absolutely.

There's nothing that you can personally do to help your friend, but his family deserves to know the truth. It's painful, but it is the truth.

Yes, you did the responsible thing. They have a right to know what was going on. Don't worry about it ;)

Yes, this could ruin his life if he doesn't get help. You were right to tell people who can turn his life around.
