petfinder.com or if you have a pure bred dog, go to akc.com and find your breed's parent organization and check their national rescue. They can point you to their local rescue to help rehome the dog. DO NOT put an ad in the paper. People looking to get dogs for resale to universities and drug companies for testing often use free to good home ads as a place to find dogs.
Keep in mind that if the dog goes to a shelter, especially if it has any bad habits, it will probably not find a home and will be put to sleep. Don't take the dog to a kill shelter and have any false ideas that your dog will be one of the few that find a home, most don't.

You shouldn't get rid of your dog! There are too many unwanted dogs out there! But if you're getting rid of it because it's not happy or you can't afford then ok and sorry. Anyway to answer your question please put it in a no-kill animal shelter or find out if any of your friends would like to keep the dog.

If you dog is really cute, a good flyer with a cute photo put up at your local pet store or vet's office may do the trick. I have been a sucker for a cute "looking for a good home" flyer dog many times before. Best of luck!

if you really want to sell the dog at least put it in a news paper.but don,t put it in a shelter,dogs only get ten days.to get adopted.

At your local ASPCA, or run an ad in the newspaper, or ask friends if anyone is looking for a pet, put an ad up at your workplace.

Put an ad in your paper and interview people interested. Please make sure you find a good home and stay away from shelters unless you know that it's a no kill shelter. Do right by the poor dog!
