I believe that GOD allowed for evolution to occur until he decided ultimately to intervene, and place humans as the dominant species amongst their counterparts. I believe that there is a correlation between evolution and creation, but humans created the concept of Darwinian theory and Creationism, and decided to butt heads about it. What do you think? Go into detail if you can, or if ya want to.

Pheonix, that's a good answer, I like that. I'm not exactly a 'Creationist' so to speak. I believe in GOD, and I believe that humans have f*cked up. That's beside the point. A few people brought up the fact that adaption over long periods of time, is separate from evolution. Too many people get so caught in the heat of the conflict, that they overlook the basic principles and foundations of their own arguments. I think it is plausible that GOD set up a basic mold for us and let us grow into it. Free will factors in to that. Time is of no consquence to him, so he doesn't necessarily need to rush to make us in his image. We're just filling in the gaps for now. I believe that the concepts and principles of science and religion are closely linked, but Science and Religion are man-made, and therefore they clash, b/c they serve as institutions and sects amongst men. I didn't expect to get this many open and well thought answers. Thank you, all of you!

Kathryn Fox: You are right on all angles there. I wouldn't go so far as to say that's the best answer I have here for this question, but it is certainly the least biased, most accurate one. Once more I am amazed that there have been all these intelligent well-thought-out responses to this question. I honestly was expecting a lot more one sided personal jabs, that used 2 or 3 words to say nothing at all. Or some crap answer that said one thing and copied it 50 times. Thanx one and all!

To God time is infinite. To us...wellll...not so much, right? So we see what scientists describe as the Theory of Evolution and go "Wow, 400 million years, huh?" whereas for God, that's nothing. So even if evolution was a tool God used to create life, he still created it. Because let's face it, you can't create something from nothing, science can't even do that. But God can. Even if you are all about evolution and don't think God had anything to do with it..how do you then explain where the planet came from...or where the bits that make the planet?
Another important note is that the Theory of Evolution is called a THEORY because it can not be proven. The time line has many gaps and disparities that are open to speculation. In general people believe that scientists all believe in evolution. They don't. And, funnily enough, even Darwin, in the end, wasn't convinced.
I think the important lessons in the Bible are not limited by whether or not they make sense to us in a linear time and space way. Let's face it, the messages in the Bible still apply to life today, and if you actually read the book and try to understand it in today's context, it will make a difference in your life. If, instead, people choose to make opinions about God, religion and the Bible based on media or pop-culture...they'll never get it.

I'm not a creationist, so you might not care what I think, but I just wonder if God did create the earth and all life, why wouldn't he have used evolution to do it? He's God, time doesn't mean much, so why not take your time to get it right? For that matter, he's still creating us "in his image" as we are still evolving.
And guys, a scientific theory is more than just a guess. It is based on evidence, things we have observed. It is not the same as the layman's definition of a "theory". The Theory of Evolution as the explanation of how life flourished is based on the observation of actual evolution (yes, genetic change, not adaptation) in animals. We observe this all the time.

I don't see a problem in accepting evolution and believing in a "creator", if that's what you mean. There are plenty of poeple who take such a stance. Anybody who takes the time to research evolution (which means reading more than just one-page Time/Life magazine articles and other short writings that are forced into layman's terms), will see that evolution doesn't say anything one way or another about deity. The only part of the Bible it contradicts is the Book of Genesis, and that's only if you take the stories about talking snakes and arks literally. Besides, some theologians would argue that to try and take the Bible as a history book is to miss the point.
Oh, and I see some people here are cluess about what the term "theory" means in science. It doesn't mean "guess". That's what the term "hypothesis" is for. I suppose the "theory of gravity" is "just a guess", huh?

Humans would have totally been dominated the dinosaurs but, I thought the world was made to cator humans supposedly?
Evolution says we evolved for survival and to define ourselves creation says we were made this way big difference.
Creation says you can make matter out of nothing more importantly a complex thing such as a human out of nothing. Wow the realist who made that discovery must have been reading some real fairy tales.
Theories are based off facts what are religions based off of word of mouth? blaming environmental factors as god(s) doings, imagination.

Here we go. Evolution is a THEORY. It has yet to be proven. Until it has been proved it can not be given as fact. As for Creationism, it is based on the fact that everything in the universe has a design. I'm not a 'Creationist', I'm a realist. I see things every day that amaze me, and I believe they were made by God. Sounds simplistic and unscientific, but if somebody comes up with the 'proof' of evolution, I will be open to persuasion. I could talk for hours on this subject, have done. But for now I'll keep it short. 'God created the heavens and the earth'. If you don't believe the first few chapters of the bible don't call yourself a christian.

i do yes ...
i cant deny evolution , but through personal experiences i cant deny God either
so for me it makes sense that evolution is part of the plan
that God new the earth would change , the environment would change and that his creation had to also
i still have a lot to think about concerning this and i dont mind admitting i am only at the begining of this idea and dont really know how to piece it together yet

If it was god and god is a perfect, omnipotent being, then why the need for evolution? Trial and error seems to me to be a distinctly human characteristic in our research because we do not automatically know what will work and what will not. It seems to me that if god is omnipotent, evolution would not be necessary because s/he could have created everything just as it needed to be for its environment, etc. If god needed evolution, then the argument could be made that s/he is not omnipotent - at least to me.

I believe creation is beyond a ridiculous theory, it is a ridiculous, disproved concept not worthy of being called a theory. Evolution is the theory of how life came to exist that I currently consider true, as the concept of god is also beyond any hope of reality.

I agree that God gave His creations the flexibility to adapt to their ecosystem. yet to bypass as far as to assert that God created one residing element and all different existence got here from that's not purely far fetched and without information, it is going against God's notice. God created guy in His photograph. cut loose all different creations with a purpose of communion with Him. the 2d issue with attempting to reconcile macro evolution with God is that scientists could first would desire to understand that there is a God.yet maximum push aside this theory simply by fact they are announcing there is no information for a God. yet carry to the assumption of macro evolution with none information in any respect.

It does say that when Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden of Eden that they were fearful of the other inhabitants of the earth. Just like when Adam's child was murdered by his brother he complained; Genesis
14 "Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me."
Who would find him if they were the only family? There had to be more "people" around at the time.
