Could any of todays gangs ever convert and accomplish what the Conservative Vice Lords and David Dawley did?

Can today’s gangs ever unite, for the benefit of the community, as the Conservative Vice Lords once did? Or will it take another tragedy, such as the Rodney King beating which indirectly led to a truce ending the Blood vs. CRIP bloodbath? Gang leaders posess the same leadership qualities required of politicians and business managers. Can they use these leadership roles to better their communities, as opposed to turning on their communities?

As long as communities remain divided amongst themselves, they will never rise to their potential. Louis Farrakhan once said, "The conspiracy is not right now... the conspiracy happened over 400 years ago in slavery... When they taught black men not to trust each other. And here it is 400 years later you guys still don’t trust each other and looking each other as opposition so y’all gonna have to change.

People join gangs looking for acceptance, identity, protection and purpose(family), consciously or unconsciouly,.Gangs fill this vacuum.Given the right motivation and space most gang members could/would become productive members of society . there is always your truly evil element no amount of (incentives) could persuade to change course.These are usually the one's who run thing's and keep everyone else from seeing the error of their way's.As far as gangs uniting there is alway,s the possibility of an exception, but as a rule the big fish usually swallows up the little fish to satisfy it's own appetite. not futher the goals of the little fish. and this appetite usually involves no sense of community goodwill.

Thats my interpretation of what you said.

We are in the year 2007 and you a worried about something that happened to slaves before America was America and then the slaves that were brought here. At what point will "your people" move on? No gangs are going to unite together and sing kumbuyaah until something happens that will cause the extinction of your race. As the muslim left take over your African homeland it may be sooner than you think. I suggest you go back to your homeland such as we did when we were being attacked by germany and help free your people from the devastation they are causing via the Janjaweed. That would make a worldwide statement " Gangs from America Unite to defend African homeland from Muslims" "News at 11!"

I never knew the bloods and crips called a truce. i work in a state prison, and the ones here must not have gotten that memo. i don't the gangs you speak of, black gangs, could ever come together for the good of the community. The reason they have the respect(if you can call it that) or power is because they inflict fear in the community through violence. I can't believe you just compared them to politicans. They are the way they are because they are uneducated and feel hatred toward the world because they can't take responsibility for thier own fate and position in life, and instead blame the world. So i guess my answer is no.

I think this takes winning one person at a time with the resources of the community. Programs that work seem to offer hope is the form of jobs, success and ultimately a better way of life.

I think they r could united if they want, but in other for them to do that. they r need to put the passed behind them, such as you did killed my brother's i 'm gonna forgive you for that , and respect each other's neigbohood. gangs is all about power and respect, so if they r could respect each other's there will be some changing among them, and forget what had happened in the pass
