He got run over on Sunday and I want a mix of sad/grateful songs to remember him by but I've got no ideas...

M O - What a heartless thing to say... ALL animals originated outdoors actually... There was no 'indoors' as such until humans, though animals may have had shelter. He wasn't an outdoor cat but I would consider it a LOT more cruel to shut an animal indoors all the time than to let it out occasionally. I'm upset at his death but that in no way makes me believe I was wrong for allowing him outdoors. To pen him up in a tiny house is like prison.

Here's a list of songs about the death of a loved one:

You could also play 'year of the cat' by Al Stewart. It's not about death and not about cats, but it is really pretty and kind of uplifting..

I am SO SORRY for your loss. I've lost quite a few cats over the years and it is really tough. One of the most special cats I ever had died when he was just a year old. I still mourn him. The old expression goes, "God picks his favorite flowers first."

Best wishes,

Cave

When my sis and I were preparing my Persian for cremation, we played Queen "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "Saying Goodbye" from Muppets Take Manhattan. A reading of TS Elliot's Practical Cats poetry borders on cliche, but is so true to the nature of those sweet furballs.

Cats are not outdoor animals. They should not just be left outside to roam about. If you plan on just tossing the cat outside, why would you get one in the first place?
