If you tell a girl you like her but cannot date her, do they usually just resort to a good friendship?

I told her I liked her, but I could not date her now. She said let's have a good friendship, but she treats me differently now. Everyone thought she liked me, but she denied it in person. I found out I have been mixed up though. I am going through a lot, and a lot of thoughts are in my head. I want to date her, but I just wanted to deny it. How can I tell if she wanted to date me? How should I tell her now that I want to date her?

Just straight out tell her - just like you did when you told her you liked her but couldn't date her.

Of course she's going to treat you differently..you just rejected her. Think of how it would feel if a girl told you the same thing.

Well, since you put her down..chances are she may not want anything else to do with you. BUT, that doesn't mean you shouldn't sit her down and talk...really talk. She may still like you. The only way to find out is to ask, when you're by yourselves.

Well if u wanted to date her u should have told her you COULDN'T. She probably does like you, but after that she decided that you guys are just friends. Once you have been demoted to friend-status it is harder to turn it into a relationship. U can't take back waht you said, but jsut ride it out for a while. Maybe in a motnh u can actually admit that you CAN date her and ask her out. To lie and say u couldn't though is lame and probably blew your chance.

Be a man, get the balls and ask her out.. then you will find out . i'm sure she did want to date you .. but then you said you didnt want to date her now.. you got her all mixed up.. why tell a girl you like her but you cant date her.. is that a power trip? just go do it. say you were being shy and didnt want to get rejected but would you go out with me
