...or for that matter how they treat anyone who is in the service industry? ie. waitstaff, clerks, housekeeping, etc.?
What makes someone think that because someone has that job which this person deems as being subserviant to them, they are given the opportunity, and therefore the right to act like a complet a**hole?
Do you just hate people like that, and don't you feel sorry for the poor losers who are stuck with them?

YES! I think this applies not only to romantic/dating relationships but ot all people in general. I have a "friend" who is a total pig when we go out to eat. She is a grown woman, yet will spit out a piece of food she doesn't like (not in a napkin either) is a stingy tipper, even with the best service, and just an all around sow when it comes to eating. However, she is usually very nice to waitstaff. My cousin, on the other hand, cops major attitude with servers, airline personnel, hotel staff, if she doesn't get her way, I have gone back to apologize for her many a time. Yes, I just hate people like that! I believe in sticking up for yourself if you are being treated rudely, but, there is no need to act like a jerk right off the bat.

Definitely!
I've been in all of these situations so know from experience. I worked as a waitress in Spain and some people can be so rude. I've eaten in restaurants and have seen people being treated terribly. And on several occasions unfortunately I have been the "poor loser" stuck with some of these rude people.

There's no need for people to act like this, it's down right rude. Why do people feel they need to be "better" than everyone else? Someones got to do the job, otherwise who would serve them!

Oh and yes, if they act like that in a restaurant then they would probably be the same in most other situations.

if someone is a jerk in a restaurant then they'll most likely be jerks in other situations. even if service is bad there is no reason to be rude.
yes, you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat others. and yes, i do feel sorry for the person they are with.

Oh yes! I think it tells a lot about a person. Someone who doesn't treat service people with respect is unlikely to be consistent in showing you respect. And the chances are they don't have much self-respect either. Insecure little people. If it's someone you're dating I'd advise not to waste your time.

It is irrelevant to me what job a person does they have the right to be treated like a human being, the reason that many people are like this is because ignorance is free and some people will help themselves.
Be assured that decent, honest people outnumber these morons, they need to remember that you are the person that is serving them food (use your imagination)

Everyone should be treated the same. We are all human beings. If someone is treating others as though they are subserviant, I would run from them as fast as I could.

Tell them if they treat you in a more classy way, you will believe they will give you a bigger tip. Or maybe appeal to their character in the need for subservience instead, if you want a bigger tip. I treat people the way they treat me. But all action has its motive.

Of course you can. Id say this is the best way to judge someone. It goes with their sucurity issues too. And if someone treats a waitress poorly, they likely treat their mother poorly. Also, these are traits I doubt can be changed!

I agree, despite your spelling errors.

I always bring a potential beau to a restaurant on an early date, just to see this side of their personality. It really shows some people at their worst.

Yes, how the person acts reflect his/her personality. I would never treat anyone poorly in the service industry.
