Yes, he is eligible for a hunting license. The minimum age here in Maine is 10. However, he must be accompanied by an adult. As a juvenile, he does not need to take a safety course, but he should.

When it come to game laws ask The department of wild life in that state, No One Else.
They enforce the law there for being the best to advise.

Easily found out....
Simply go to Walmart, go to the sporting goods section, and pick up a copy of your states hunting and fishing regulations handbook.
Usually these are avalible there at the sporting goods cash register for free.
Then you will have your states own printed information in it's latest form.

Ask the people where you get your hunting license. I hunted at that age, had to take a class first. Not in Maine.

Every state has game laws.Go to your local gun shop-pick up a copy of the hunting regs,go to a HUNTER SAFETY COURSE and start having fun.Someone should hunt with the kid for a while-to teach him.

When it comes to the law, asking the clerk at the sporting goods store is not a reliable source of information. Often, state game wardens are misinformed, I have found.

One source should be trusted: The State's agency that oversees these laws! Here's the link for Maine:
