Good grief....where do you people get this crap?

No. But why would you smoke when you are pregnant? That is just stupid and you have no concern for the health of your baby. It can cause low birth weight, under-developed lungs, enlarged heart.....and more.

No smoking during pregnancy does not INCREASE the risk of leukemia in the baby.

No, but it could be born with learning disabilities. Smoking restricts the blood vessels, thus reducing the amount of oxygen to the placenta. It could be born with asthma, causing life-long problems. My mom smoked while pregnant with all 4 of us kids and we all have ADD, and one of my sisters has severe asthma, which at age 42, still sends her to the ER. Do you think it is worth the risk. 2nd hand smoke is also dangerous.

no, there are many women who smoke who have normal healthy children. there may be an increased risk of health problems, for example, the babies of smoking mothers can have a lower than usual birth weight, and are more likely to have respiratory issues, such as asthma. go to a real health website and do some research.

To all the people who said no, how can you rule it out?? There has to be a chance you will give your child cancer of some kind.

I smoked less then 20 a week and only for a few weeks of my pregnancy, (but in the important foetal development stage) my daughter got leukaemia at age 6. How can it be ruled out that my smoking didnt cause something in her DNA to be faulty, then exposure to something else caused the mutation.

I also ask this question because my other 2 children who I didnt smoke with are not the ones who got leukaemia.

I wouldnt be worried about leukemia as a result of smoking, although smoking is so bad for you, why are you allowing your unborn to smoke?

No it cannot cause leukemia. But nicotine like most other drugs should not be in your body while you are pregnant.

No. But it can up the chances. Any smoke at all is really bad for children, so if you can't quit, make sure you smoke outside and shower before you hold the kid again.
