Drye eye means that your eye glands aren't working! The doctor should have told you to start putting lubricating eye drops which is very important! I would do some investigating because sometimes it might be serious! I have dry eyes and dry mouth which is called sjogren's syndrome! You shouldn't wait, get another opinion but definitely put eye drops every day to take care of your eyes!! Good luck!

I Was Told The Same Thing At An Eye Appointment About Six Years Ago. I Was Also Developing White Spots That Where On The White Area Of My Eyes. Sounds Strange But You Could See The Difference If You Looked In A Mirror. My Doctor Told Me That Dry Eyes Has A Lot To Do With Being Under-Hydrated. He Told Me To Stay Away From Diet And Regular Soda And Drink More Water. It Sounds Silly But I Cut The Soda Out Completeley And Just Started Drinking Water. My Astygmatism Has Gotten A Little Better...My Eyes Are Hydrated And The White Spots Are Gone. Try Drinking More Water. On The The Other Hand You May Have A Problem With Your Tear Ducts?

The lacrimal glands (tear glands) normally make fluid constantly to keep the front of the eye wet and clean. In dry eye the glands do not make as much fluid as they should do and the front of the eye can become sore, sticky and scratchy. Sometimes the duct which leads from the gland to the front of the eye can become blocked. It can be unblocked but the docs need to know what the cause is before they can take any action to help ease the problem. Sometimes there is nothing that can be done except to prescribe eye drops ("liquid tears") which do the job artificially;
