I know this has no correct or accurate answer. We'll never know it. But one might make his/her own speculations or imagination of what would have happened if Lee were alive.

I bet we would have more cool martial arts movies now. Also, I bet more people would be into martial arts, following Bruce Lee's example and the things he would have said if he were alive.

No one would ask "Would Bruce Lee Be Able To Win A Fight Against A Muay Thai Fighter?"in Yahoo! Answers. Bruce Lee would dominate that fight! And no little White Belts would believe that they could "mop the floor with Bruce Lee".

he would have continued to improve. both himself (physically and mentally), his students and "his" Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do (which in turn would have improved other peoples Jeet Kune Do) probably have. May have frowned upon the current UFC due to the rules. wouldprobably of liked hte UFC 1 even though he would be all for gouging the eyes etc.

Basically he would have lived a life that would affect each of our own.

He may of competed in UFC and won, thus providing a different structure of an "ultimate (and i use this word losely to describe this title) fighter" - it may no longer be BJJ and Muay Thai work great together but it may of been such styles as Savate and Submissions or Karate and Judo or Tai Chi and BJJ or maybe groung fighting may not be such a desired skill to have as it is now?

There is undoubedly many things Bruce Lee could have done had he still be alive, but these coul only have been good things

ultimately he would still of continued to hack away the unnessentials, absorb what is useful and add what is essentially his own.

"Jeet Kune Do is simply to simplify"

"Set patterns, incapable of adaptability, of pliability, only offer a better cage. Truth is outside all patterns."

"instead of going immediately to the heart of things, flowery forms and artificial techniques are ritualistically practiced to simulate actual combat. Thus, insteadof "being" in combat, these practitioners are "doing" something "about" combat"

to me...He was way ahead of his time. The MMA of today he was already researching back then. I believe he would've evolved his own path in his research. His students would probably do the same.

I think that Bruce Lee would have helped shape (even more) the arts that continue to evolve today. But most importantly, I believe he still would've affected people to do their own research and see what they can absorb from the arts and what they have to discard.

It is not for certain what one of the greatest martial artist would've done if he were alive today. It is unfortunate and a great loss to us who follow the arts and philosophy that a positive influence has been called home so early.

Most things are open to guesswork, but I think the most logical thing is simply that he wouldn't be as popular as he is.

While true, he was successfull, much of his popularity and fan base is the result of marketing his name by linda lee (his widow) to make money off his name.

Had he lived many questions about his skills would have been answered and he likely would have recieved the same respect we give to any fighter if his abilities were proven by actual recorded fights as opposed to fanboys basing thier opinions on movies and actors.

If I based my opinion on this then christian bale can use gun kata to take over the world. As a grammerton cleric, his gun skills are able to wipe out entire police and military units.

He would not have the elevated respect he gets now, largely because his exact skills and abilities are now untestable. Unlike rickson gracie and muhammad ali, we don't have a means to compare and contrast him with other fighters. Had he lived, we would most assuredly would.

Thus I can truly say "had he lived, he would have gotten the respect he deserved".

If he was good- as good as ali or rickson or any other famous fighter, we would see this, and he would be respected as such.

If he wasn't- then we would see this and he would not have been respected, or he would have in short, been given the respect he deserved for the skill he would have shown.

if he hadnt died, he would have lived.

there is no way to know what could have been.

he was a martial philosopher, not an infinite power. too many people are making him out like a martial art messiah. he had great understandings, and changed the direction of martial arts towards a more goal applicable nature. less traditional dogma, and more improvised adaptation. this was his legacy, not miracle working.

First of all Bruce did beat the crap out of a group of muay thai fighters (ninedemonsdragon) and if you think his legacy would not be as powerful as it is now. We respect him because of his contributions to the deltion of the ignorance towards the martial arts.
If he had not died and continued to make movies, people would be like, He needs to sit his old butt down. and his ultimate message would be lost.

Don't forget also Brandon Lee.. Two great men from the same family...If both were alive everybody would still enjoy them in movies..It's a shame really..Bad luck for the family and for us that we can't watch them on tv or cinema anymore...

Apparently he would have fought a ton of people on Yahoo Answers and settled a lot of bets one way or the other.
Eventually he would still die though
