This is what Bush said-

We also need to examine ways to mobilize talented American civilians to deploy overseas, where they can help build democratic institutions in communities and nations recovering from war and tyranny.

This to me, sounds like a draft. What do you think????

No, I don't think there will be a draft. There are enough in congress against it, to start with. Second, there are enough people inflamed about 9/11 that people continue to sign up for active duty. Finally, we have people posted all around the world. There are plenty of folks to pull from those posts and to put in other areas if needed.

Frankly, I think they belong at our southern border...but that's a whole 'nother topic.

I think Bush does want to reinstate the draft but I honestly don't think that the democratic majority is going to let that happen. Even republicans think Bush is starting to get ridiclous. I will say if they do reinstate the draft, my fiance and I will be moving to Canada. My daughter isn't going to loose her daddy because Bush doesn't know when to fold.

Nope. If you want to know what he meant join the military. Or better yet join the reserves....so when you get mobilized in the thousands on a fine Sunday to augment the active forces you'll say to yourself oh yeah, he meant call upon or nations part time volunteers to help out.

A draft would employ the un- employable. Also would help remove gangs from taking over the streets. You get three hots and a cot.

No, I think he is talking recovery after a war. Civilians that can go in and show the people how to rebuild. Not military.

He is running out of troops to send over there...If he sends the 20,000 more he said he would that leaves us with pretty slim pickings here at home....The National Guard is supposed to be our defense here at home...If they are off somewhere fighting with people that don't care if they have a democracy or not it leaves us very vulnerable...they were short of guard during the katrina crisus..if, heaven forbid we were attacked here there wouldn't be enough troops to take care of our emergency..I hate to say it but I do think it is inevitable...

My guess is that you are correct. I am not for the current war, and hope that resolution can be achieved before a draft would be started.

Bush is a complete moron and an embarrassment to our country. Please don't post your political BS in the Pregnancy and Parenting section. If we cared we would look at those questions. Thanks.
