None! Although his brother was a gallery owner, Van Gogh never sold a picture in his lifetime.
If you want to be an artist, don't forget that in most cases you will only become well-known after your death (because then there will be retrospectives etc. and your paintings will start to sell.
Otherwise you should address people's snobbery... and any white square on a white background would do!

Yes Van Gogh did sell one painting during his lifetime...it sold to the equivalent of $33.00 American dollars...That is a common known art history fact about Van Gogh......Another common fact is that if you visit the Louvre in Paris the only thing American is the painting of " whistlers mother" by homer and Don Mc Leans American songwriters song" starry starry night" is played in from of the famous Van Gogh Painting of the same name...* Don Mc Lean .is .most famous for " American Pie" the song about Buddy Holly...

I dont think he did. He may have given a few to his brother and his brother gave him money but when it's rel;atives does it count?
