i am trying to get in shape for track and softball im not fat but id like to lose my pudge so i could wear tight shirts will meditation help if so how do you meditate

Meditation is great for losing weight and relieving stress.

To meditate, find a quiet spot with no distractions. Wear lose clothes as to keep you flowing. You can lay down flat too.
Close you eyes. You can use soft music in background but it must be something like drums, flute, maybe native american.
Now concentrate on a field of grass. Act like you are looking at it from above. Notice each color and texture as you go through this journey. You see a daisey with its petals closed. Concentrate on it. Slowly it begins to open each petal, very slowly. Think of how you feel as this is happening. See the colors and texture and process. Then watch as each petal falls off and floats to the ground. Watch the wind moving the grass back and forth, swaying. Watch the wind gently float each petal off to reveal the center of the flower. Look deep inside, view every aspect. Keep seing the petals lying on the grass dancing in the breeze. Slowly pull away upward still viewing everything from a distance. Go farther and farther away and then see and feel the sun on your face. How does it make you feel? Bask in the sunlight and warmth. Slowly open your eyes and relax 5 mins.

This process should take 15-20 mins. If it took less time you did not go slow enought or use enough depth to your feelings and what you were seeing. Dont rush it. Relax.
And the main thing with Meditation do not let your mind wander. Each time it does bring it back to the scene and your feelings there. Never let it wander off on other things. Keep your focus.
This takes practice and each time you will get better at it.

Meditation relieves stress and helps the functioning of your mind and body. It not only quiets you but it sets your day in montion and good things will begin to happen. Start your day with meditation and end your day with meditation. You can use the flower theme or another theme (entering the earth and strolling to its center, spinning colors on a color wheel, animals grazing) and these are just a few. Always use the same background music dont change. It must be soft and flowing and no words.

There are also many meditation tapes out there. But make sure you get a good one from a reputable person like Sylvia Browne.
Everyone is making them these days. Find the ones that fit you.

It depends on the TYPE of meditation you do. Some meditation is simply to calm the mind or do analytical thinking, etc.

The easiest way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. Sitting on a meditation cushion may HELP you cultivate some thinking that will help MOTIVATE you, but ultimately all you're doing is sitting on the cushion. If you need motivation, simply visualize yourself doing the activities and the healthy weight you choose to be ("pudge" is not "overweight" nor "obesity", you're trying to conform to some mindless standard of "beauty" which is terribly sad but... okay) and then go do it.

Meditation simply means 'single pointed concentration'.
See yourself the exact size, weight you wish and hold your attention/concentration on that picture at least 3 times a day for as long as you can; especailly right before you go to sleep.
