Is it rude when ur on the phone with someone, then someone else calls you (someone was calling me to tell me about some babysitting jobs available) for 3minutes, and the person waiting hangs up on you. And then when u call the 1st person back they think its entirely rude that they were left waiting on the phone for 2-3minutes?

Is that really rude or is person just paranoid?

You did not mention whether did you tell the 1st person you've got another call coming. and i just presume you didnt know the incoming call at the moment will take so long.

At-least you call back!!

if the 1st person is aware that you got a second call before u put 'em on hold, then you're not rude, cuz he/she is aware that you got another call, it is up to him/her to choose to wait or not. If he/she didnt want to wait, then fine, but you're not rude cuz u inform, it doesnt matter if call is important or not. Cuz the 1st person shld be prepared to wait, or he/she can hang up then wait for u to call back to continue the talk.

basic form of 'em respecting your calls, and you informing 'em about the call

If the 1st person wasn't told and you abruptly put 'em on hold, then it is rude.

It is rude to have someone hanging for three minutes. The person is not paranoid. Call Waiting is rude. Have the maturity and courtesy to either say, "May I call you back because I am waiting for this call and I really must take it?" OR to allow the second incoming call go directly to voice mail.

No one likes to be left hanging for more than 30+ seconds -- not even you.

I find it annoying to be left on hold. I most always hang up after 1 minute or tell the person clicking over to just call me back when they are done before they take the call in the first place. I also feel that while it may be a bit rude it is a person's own responsibility of taking charge of his/her own feelings. I KNOW that being on hold annoys me so I take care of the problem before there is one by saying....take your call and then call me back when you are free to talk.

I wait for a few minutes and then hang up too...you were obviously talking to the first person for a reason.....you could at least say, I have another call coming in regarding a job....can I call you back in a few minutes...I think call waiting get a lot of us into this situation.

no you were not rude because the other call you recieved was genuine,it was a work call for you !! if the first person you were talkin to hung up,then its fine but they should not be mad at you or any thing of dat sort. When you call back, just say you recieved an urgent important call and your sorry. thats it. The 1st person should nt be prolonging the issue, unless they are bored !

it's not rude if you've already told them to 'hang on.' besides, 3 minutes is a mere blink of an eye. the person is obviously an attention whore or suffers from ADHD. however, it would be best in the future to switch back to the first person and tell them you'll call them back cause u have to take the call.

No its not rude, that person just takes offense waaaay too easily. THe only problem I could see with it would be if that 1st person was really upset about something and really needed to talk to you about it. That's the only case I would stay on the line for when I knew jobs were trying to get ahold of me.

Yea, its rude. But not bad... I mean things happen to where you cant hang up on someone right away... Its the other persons CHOICE to hold on that long. Its not REALLY ALL THAT rude, but its slightly rude. But unavoidable at times.
