The women may find the men charming, irresistible, and comforting or there may be that level of 'danger' that may excite the women, but in all honesty I think one of the reasons is because the women are desperate.
They probably don't think that they will meet another man like the one they are involved with because he has the qualities they want in a life-partner (of course omitting the fact that he's deceitful, a liar, and an unfaithful idiot).
The women may also have diluted hopes that the man will eventually leave his present marriage to fully pursue the relationship they share on the side because the bond/attraction may seem that strong, special, or irreplaceable in the woman's mind even if the man has no real intentions of leaving his wife, ever.

A lot of married men tell their girlfriends that the marriage is 'dead', that they are no longer sleeping with the wife, or even that it is an 'open relationship'. Men also come up with a lot of BS excuses about why they are not divorced yet, such as staying together for the children, financial reasons or 'my wife would kill herself if I left'. Cheaters are often very charming yet emotionally manipulative, and they go after damaged women who have poor self esteem, mental health issues or are otherwise vulnerable. These women end up thinking they don't deserve any better. However, being in a relationship with a married man is just plain wrong no matter what challenges you are facing in your life or how lonely you are. There are plenty of good men out there who are not married. People, please choose one of them instead.

the same reason some men continue to stay in relationships with married women...it is because of the greener grass on the other side of the fence and there are no comittments being made with the 2 ppl having the affair.

my dad has a misstress and as far as I can see she is with him knowing he is married because of sex, money and because its better then to be left alone; they feel they are the heroes cause wife its alway the evil one that cant understand the husband and he is so miserable but one day he will leave her (although this is never true) and they will leave together sharing their love.. its lies and passion.. the hope of a dream to be loved.
