You shouldnt be in pain when you first wake up. The medication will wear off eventually, but they give you something for that. I had four wisdom pull at once, and the worse to happen to me in the hours after was I became violently nauseaus. They gave me soup and juice but I couldnt keep anything down (due to the pain medication).

Besides being put under they will also numb your mouth so when you wake up you will not feel pain do to the numbness. It is really no big deal. I work for an oral surgeon and see people in your situation everyday and they have no problems afterwards. Before your numbness wears off you should take your pain meds along with something cold to eat so you won't get nausea.

Good Luck!!

I have had a couple of teeth out in my life. I have never woken up in pain. Both times I had full anasthetic (totaly unconcious) and upon waking up I found my self sleepy as tho I had just slept for a few days straight and a jelly like feeling where the tooth was.

It didnt realy hurt to eat after provided its nothing stupid like rock or toffies.

Unless the doctor told you he was going to put you under you will be awake when they pull your tooth. My son just had two teeth pulled about a week ago and he had it done at 10:20 AM and by noon he was with me at a restaurant eating a chicken tenders meal and was fine.

I had my tooth pulled and it was very painful. I went to bed in pain and woke up in pain for a few days. Your dentist will probably prescribe you some pain killers.

I never had any pain. However, my wife said I talked about elephants and Arnold Schwartznegger. You may be real goofy but shouldn't have pain.
