I'm not sure if He said it in those specific words. But in John 3:16, Jesus says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." The only way we can NOT perish is to be in the presence of God after we die and the only way we can to that is if we are perfect. And the only way we can be seen perfect in God's eyes is to accept Jesus as the Lord of our life.

He died to save our sins. They are all saved and quarantined in Heaven.
By the way, what's wrong with atheist answers? I am embarrassed by your lack of interest in atheist answers.
As for Jesus' own words, read them for yourself in Matthew, Mark, Luke or John.

He said that he was going to die to save us from our sins. God also said it when he sent the Angel to explain to Merry and Joseph that Merry was going to have a son (Jesus).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. John 3:16-18
Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:13-14
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:39-40
Do not work for food that spoils but for food that endures to eternal life which the Son of Man will give you. On him, God the Father has placed his seal of approval. John 6:27
I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. John 6:32-33
I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 6:38-40
No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God. Only he has seen the Father. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. John 6:46-48
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from within him. John 7:37-38
You are from below, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins. If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.
John 8:23-24
When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. John 8:28
If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8:31-32
I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. John 8:51
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5
I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. John 10:9
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father. John 10:17-18
