Okay I have this friend we made a deal that if we didn't have any dates for prom then we would go together because we are best friends. Then he calls me and asks me if I would get mad if he took his other friend. She's in the tenth grade whereas we are in the eleventh. Well this friend is constantly hurting me. He says he doesn't like me because I am big yet he decides to date a big gothic chick who doesn't even fix herself up. Well he told me that when they broke up that he would give us a shot. Then after that he told me that he didn't like me like that and he didn't want to take me to prom because he didn't want to get my hopes up. But is all this stuff about girlfriends and giving us a chance, is that not getting my hopes up. Then after all this he expects me to stay best friends with him. I am so f---ing stupid for letting him hurt me all these times but I need help. Am I being selfish or do I have a right to be hurt and upset. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

It sounds like you are putting way more effort into this that he is. You obviously think of him as more than a friend and he just doesn't feel the same way. Your high school years are way too short, but so memorable. Please move on and find someone who appreciates you for you! It's not the end of the world if you don't find a prom date - get a group of girls together and go have a blast!!

It is perfectly natural for you to be upset by what this boy has been telling you and what he has expected of you. However, if I were you I would dump him. You don't say how old you are but as far as the prom goes, go anyway and dance with your girlfriends. That's what my daughter did and she had a good time.

wrong answer youre friend should respect and like you for who you are not what yo ulook like, he broke his promise its done. My most important answer is stay friends do not go near anyhting remotely like a relationship and if he continues or starts to degrade you for what yo ulook like hes not worth even having as a friend, you havw the right to be upset that was wrong of him. take my advice lots luck dee

You deserve better than this guy!! Sounds like immaturity on his part. I would grow a backbone (as hard as that is sometimes!!) and get some new friends. This guy is leading you on because you are letting him!
