Think about it, what did make you want to start? I have not smoked for twenty five years, but I started smoking at the age of eight.I stoped smoking at the age of thirty three, after I could see what dammage it was doing to me. Trust me it was not easy to quit, in fact it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I tried for five years to quit before I got the job done. The only way that works is cold turkey, just make up your mind and do it. I think I started because of second hand smoke from my Dad smoking in the car while I was in there with him. There was no way to get away from it, so my body just gave in to it. By the time I was eight my body had to have it, so I found myself stealing ciggeretts from my dad and anywhere else I could get them. IF YOU DONT WANT TO QUIT FOR YOURSELF DO IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE. SOMEONE LIKE YOUR CHILD, YOUR MOTHER, YOUR BROTHER.YOUR SISTER OR ANYONE, JUST DO IT.

The very first thing i can ever remember is being like 3 years old and my mom smoking a cig in the grocery store. They smoked in the car and house too. When I started smoking as a teen they didn't really even try to stop me. I now smoke 30 cigs a day im 30 and likely going to die from it. At least I still really really like smoking. It's great!! I have 5 cig breaks a day at work. I'm going to have one now.

Oh, PLEASE! Don't blame your smoking on your Dad! Because he smoked, YOU had to? Nonsense! YOU smoked because YOU chose to.

I smoked for many reasons. Trying to look cool was one of the chief ones, but not the only one.

I don't agree that cold turkey is the only way to quit, either. I used the nicotine gum and a very good online support site. Quitnet.com. Worked soooo well for me, even after 42 years of heavy duty smoking.

NRTs, like the lozenge, the patch, the gum, Zyban and Wellbutrin, even the new Chantrix are extremely helpful to help people quit. I know, because I've seen it!

It's not always because of parents smoking why people pick up the habit. I know a man whose parents both smoked, and he says he and his brother and sister would be in the back seat on long family trips, unable to roll down the window. To this day he doesn't smoke.

That's the reason I don't smoke, riding in the car with both my parents smoking and the window just cracked or the wind wing open.
