I'm almost tired of seeing that. They should come up with something else like "can god make me fly?" "Can God make me walk on water?" or this one, "can God give people 3D vision?"

Why do they ask the most ridiculous unscientifical thing that they know humans are not able to perform and ask Christians to prove it? Then when we say it is not possible, they say God must not exist. Why doesn’t God answer amputee prayers? Uhhh maybe because humans lack the biological ability to regrow a limb and instead your science has created something called a prosthetic. hmmmm so maybe God did answer their prayers. And he does perfrom miracles.

If you think I am lying read this if you haven’t already, it's laughable and I actually have it saved to my favorites. Look at some of the questions they ask of christians. It's really interesting though humorous...

ok let's obliterate the laws of science, how do you or I know if a lossed limb cannot be regrown? Is there proof that God cannot give someone a lossed limb?

come on people, why do we have to resort to personal insults and attack? i think we are all grown up here and able to have intelligent debate no matter who is wrong or right. is this the only way you guys can get your point across.? you are not even worth conversing with if all you can do is substantiate your responses with personal attack. come on, its childish. only kids do this. thanks for the ones who answered sensibly.

your god should be able to work outside the laws of established science and therefore should not be constrained by the lack of "biological ability."

who do you know pray for wings on their arms to be flown across the oceans? do people actually pray for weight to be gone the next day? what people do you know pray that their arm can magically appear after being cut off? people pray for reasonably acceptable things. God has cured people with cancer. I know this from experience. God has pulled people out of total car wrecks alive without a scratch while everyone else died. People have prayed for jobs, steady health. cure from disease is reasonable. prayer for food is reasonable. Not prayer to walk on water or float in mid air. Logical people and SANE individuals know that God will not give them another arm. Sane people know that god cannot make them fly. i would never ask God to give me a third eyeball in case one becomes damaged. this is my entire point. that is fantasy.

Wow, I haven't heard the amputee one - and I thought I read all of them - anyway, is it that they say why won't God grow a new limb for someone who is an amputee? Thats easy to answer:
Who cut the limb off? If man did it, why are you looking to God to fix it - you are the one who cut it off, not God.
The very best witnesses for God is a handicapped person.
When you see a guy in a wheelchair who can't move from the neck down, and he tells you of his love of God, can it be more moving than that? That is doing the work of God - better, stronger, more effective work for God than any pastor, preacher, priest or evangelist you will ever meet.

If your God is really a God, why is he bound by scientific principles? According to your Bible, he performs miracles all the time. Regrowing a limb for a person should be nothing compared to, oh, say, resurrecting to life after dying.

Further, Jesus promised anything asked in his name would be done -- without EVER saying that the answer might be no or wait... it was 'YES. It WILL.'

So are you saying all these amputees who pray in Jesus's name don't really believe in Jesus? Oh, but Jesus didn't even say you had to believe for your prayer to be fulfilled, just pray in his name.

"Dear Jesus, in your most Holy Name, I implore you to come forth and within the next hour repair all the persons suffering from an amputation no matter how great or small. In your Name, Amen."

Let's check back in an hour... it's 12:04pm where I'm at. If at 1:04pm, all amputations are healed, Jesus told the truth. Otherwise, he was a liar.

----

jan: I'd consider him as intellectually lacking as any other person who believes things without proof then interprets everything via that belief in ways that no matter what support his beliefs.

A person is raised all his life to believe that Ombababoa loves him and makes the rains. He believes it. Everytime it rains, it is proof to him that Ombababoa exists because he believes the rains couldn't happen without Ombababoa.

How's your moron in a wheelchair any different?

-----

Update: 12:34 -- A friend of mine reports his leg is still missing. But no worries, Jesus has another 30 minutes. Surely he'll come through, I mean, he's god, isn't he?

-----

Update: 1:27 -- Well, I went to lunch so Jesus got an extra 23 minutes to keep his promise. And yet my friend reports his leg is even STILL missing.

Jesus was a liar, whattaya know?

First of all, we already have 3D vision and no one GAVE it to us.

Second, how can you criticize the amputee argument without coming up with a valid argument? "Humans lack the biological ability?" That only explains why WE cannot regrow lost limbs. According to your rules, your god should be able to work outside the laws of established science and therefore should not be constrained by the lack of "biological ability."

Lastly, you really should try listening to yourself sometime. Your logic is circular and full of holes.

Well, I'm a strong believer & I don't know what you mean about the atheists using the amputee cliche but I've been told that there is a chance that when I get older my left foot might (I hope not) have to be removed for bad circulation but the way I look at it is at least if that happens I was lucky to have 2 feet for alot of my life

We ask why god doesn't do these "magical" impossible things... because people like yourself claim that he does it every day.

IE: curing cancer - you call it a miracle if you pray, and your cancer goes away

It is impossible for cancer to disappear because of prayer. It IS possible for cancer to disappear because of a doctor's efforts.

An amputee regrowing an arm due to prayer is also impossible. In addition, with our current medical science, doctors can't regrow them either.

Therefore, if an amputee regrew a lost limb, that would be a verifiable miracle, as the impossible has happened.

This is so easy to understand. Please just try looking at it objectively, instead of viewing it as an attack on you...

"unscientifical"? Why do you expect atheists to ask something "scientifical" of God? I thought God performed miracles... isn't that the way of God? And yes, according to your mythology, God DID create humans without the biological ability to regrow limbs... the POINT, you dunce, is to pray to God to perform a MIRACLE which defies the laws of nature. He used to do it, yes? Why not now? I'm sure there would be people willing to pray and pure of heart. Do you think God would toss natural law to the wind in this day and age?

No? He did it all the time "back in the day"... strange that he suddenly dropped out of the "defying - the - laws - of - nature miracle" business and never really made a come-back.

THAT'S the freaking point.

The amputee thing is pretty lame. I'm more worried about how God's invisible penis came down from the sky and got some girl pregnant. He could attack again at any moment. It sounds more like something Zeus would do.

the "amputee"thing refers to a common way to disprove so called "miracle healings" due to the fact (and it is a fact) that every supposed miracle cure has been something that might have got better anyway, unlike a missing limb whic never "miraculously" grows back.

I'm glad you find it funny, but apparently you're incapable of critical thought.

They're meant to present you with arguments against the attributes that YOUR dogma has assigned to YOUR god. If you claim that your god exists and he has X and Y attributes, then they are justified in every single question they ask.

Christians say that all things are possible through God. When challenged with things like flying, walking on water, their standard response is, "DON'T TEST GOD!!!!"

This is why Christians are ridiculed endlessly.
