In spanish what is thedifference between 'de' and 'a'?

vuelvo de casa

Salgo de casa means I came out of the house and vuelvo a casa means I came back to the house it depends on the sentence is used the meaning it has. The same word can have 2 diffrent meaning's depend's the way you use it

I don't think that you would ever say salgo de casa. Generally, de is equivalent to "of" and a is used many different ways but often is equivalent to "to." What you should say for the first example is Salgo la casa and for the second example it is better to say Vuelvo a la casa.

you use "a" when you indicate the place that you are going to: vuelvo a casa (i go back home), voy a la tienda (i go to the shop).
you use "de" when you are comming from a place, when you indicate the place where your action has started: salgo de casa (i leave my house), vuelvo de casa (i return from my house), yo vengo de la tienda (i come from the shop)
