I've noticed several postings from Christians (usually in response to Jesus' return and are they ready) that say things to the effect of "Yes, I can't wait, I hate this world" or "Yes, I can't wait, this world is so awful." Is life really that terrible for some of you? What makes it so? Really, I'm completely baffled by this. I've got 15 years left on my student loan, 3 years left on my car loan, live in a dinky apartment, have a chronic illness that some days causes me severe pain, and I'm having a fabulous time. What makes this world so terrible for those of you that feel it's better for your messiah to return and end the world than it is to get up in the morning and take in the beauty of another day? I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'd just like to know why you feel that way. Thanks!

So Readytogo - what you're saying is that if I really knew Christ, I'd realize just how miserable my not miserable life is because Jesus isn't physically here? What incentive is that to return to Christianity (where I spent most of my life)? And how can you explain Padwinlearner, who obviously has just as much faith as you but such a beautiful outlook on life? I really don't understand how simply the physical absence of Christ - if you have him in your heart every day - makes this world so bleak and meaningless.

Honey, the world is what we have mde it, warts and all.
And you are right. Things are bad, and for many, downright depressing. You have things to do, etc.
Actually, many of us should take pattern from you and stop the madness. We are responsible for all of it; what we do to ourselves and one another everyday; so why complain? No one is guiltless!
I am Christian and past 50. I get up everyday and some days, my back hurts but I am happy to be alive and well, yes, well! I thank God for that. Why? Some other person did not make it and I did! I have told God I am not ready yet and I truly hope He lets me remain for a long time again. I am not ready yet and life could be a drag somteimes, but that's okay!
When I travel and see some with windows up - some don't even have air-conditioning in their vehicles but they refuse to let the wind blow on them - I smile and open mine wider. I love the fresh air and am grateful I can breathe; inhale the freshness of a new day. I muse that one day, they might be on a sickbed, unable to breathe with tubes up their nostrils, or in a smoky building on fire and dying for a breath of fresh air, yet while they have it, they shut it out.
People are just too happy!

As a Christian, I can surely wait for Jesus' return. I have Him with me every day and, although heaven will be infinitely better than here, I love the world that God has created for me. I have so much of it left to explore. I have friends and family that have not yet met my Lord and Savior, and I would have them meet Him before we all go to be with Him.
Like you, I have a fabulous time, almost every single day. I wake up to a sunrise filled with promise and a new day filled with hope. I marvel at nature and the imagination of mankind. I love each smile and hug I share, especially with my husband, children and grandchildren. I love laughter. No, the world is not such a bad place - although we do have our problems. Each day is a gift from God - it is up to us to make the most of each and every day.

I admire you for your positive outlook on life in the midst of your problems, and that's a good thing.
There is the bigger picture beyond that however. We are living in a world that is alarmingly growing more evil and corrupt each day, and Christians who have studied the scriptures and are aware of prophesy are aware of the signs that lead them to believe that Jesus is coming soon. We are eager to see the fulfillment of His Word.
As we see the nations struggle, and the children suffer, the earth itself deteriorating, it becomes harder to enjoy life as we in our hearts know that there is a better life coming.
I agree with you that Christians should not complain as much and they should remember that the joy of the Lord is their strength. I personally agree that the world would be a better place for many of the Christians if they got their eyes off of the world and more on Jesus.

I know this is like poking a sleeping giant so bear with me.
MAYBE they want their "messiahs" to come back because they either DON'T want to change things themselves OR they CAN'T see a way to make a difference.
I sometimes feel that everyone is waiting on the "messiah" to come back and fix it rather than fixing ourselves.
I don't think the world is that awful. I just get discouraged by the news and everyone else telling me how bad it is.

I've never actually posted something like that but maybe they mean in general instead of a certain person's life. Like with all the aids and famine and war and stuff going on in the world. But like I said, I'm not to sure... just speculating.

A question I've often asked myself.. if they're p.issing and moaning about how horrible things are.. why don't they just skip the middle man, make a date with Smith and Wesson and meet the big guy before the parade gets going?
Bitter? Yes, but I'm sick of the p.issers and moaners.

Rather than get on with this life some, and it is a minority, give up and sustain themselves with thoughts of a non existent paradise. Bit like the novel and film, The Island.

When you come to the saving knowledge of our savior then you will understand. When you feel his peace and joy this world has nothing at all we want.part of.
