that is because the world system is controlled by the devil
(2Corinthians 4:4) In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
So anyone who loves this world despises us because we don't love the world system that we live in. They can not see beyond this world because satan has blinded them.

SATAN IS THE GOD OF THIS WORLD
2Cor.4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2Cor.11:14 Satan transforms himself into and angel of light.
1Pet.5:8 Satan is an adversary, as a roaring lion, seeking to devour.
John 8:44 Satan the devil caused death of every offspring of Adam
John 14:3;
Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you that where I am, there ye may be also.
Rev.12:3,4,6-11,12;
Michael of Jude 9; at Dan.12:1-13 IN END TIMES, with holy angels cast Satan and unholy angels down.
Holy angels are now parted from the unholy. A PLACE IS PREPARED FOR APOSTLES.
SATAN HAS A SHORT TIME.
John 6:39,40,44;
Jesus said, he would raise them up at the last day, Mark 13:27;
1Thes.4:15-17; Michael is ther to the last when they are caught up.
2Pet.3:13
THERE WILL BE A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH. The heavenly and the heavens are first.
Rev.20:1-6,12,13; The heavenly are shown to be in place. No Satan for 1000 years.

In no place of Scripture does it say that satan controls anything.
He may sit as prince of the earth until his execution, but that is under the direct control of God, and for a specific reason.
If you are a Christian, you know that this life is a parenthesis - beginning parenthesis (birth --- ending parenthesis death) its only a parenthesis inside a large paragraph that is eternal life.
so you see that this life is only a small percentage of who we really are. So its wise to set your sights on things of the spirit which will not be gone at death - otherwise you would be a fool.
thats just plain common sense.

Everything and anything is possible in religious belief. Even the impossible is possible.
Religion has been debated for many thousands of years, by millions of people.
After all those years and debates, intelligent people still are just as confused as ever, while it's all clear as crystal to those who are not too mentally sharp.

"Setting your affections on heavenly things" means to look to God for your fulfillment, and not on money and things of this world.
The disciples faced hardship and persecution. By setting their affections on heavenly things, they were given courage to endure.

When you die you take nothing with you, only you good and or bad deeds to be judged by GOD. Love only GOD, everything else is secondary.
