Why do some people open the 'see through glass lids' on the freezers to see what they want, and then close the lid without taking anything. Can they not see through glass.

So they can fog up the windows and then use their fingers to write on it?

Humans are tactile and like to touch things rather than relying on visual cues. But when say buying frozen vegetables you want to actually pick up the bag and feel it. You can tell if it has been sitting there too long, freezer burnt or whatnot. Actually this also applies to any frozen food, even a frozen pizza in a box.

They're not always see-through. Plus sometimes I need to paw through it to see if someone stocked something wrong and that frozen box of spinach is maybe hiding behind the broccoli. Which with my store, it usually isn't so I close the door. At least I don't hold the door open and ponder what to buy.

Yes we can see through the glass...but sometimes we hope that if we open it to get a better look we might see the thing we really wanted after all...

They would be the same people who sometimes actually take something out of the freezer cabinet and then when they get to the cereals aisle, decide they don't want it and just leave it on the shelf with the cornflakes to thaw out and ruin.

Because sometimes the glass fogs or it is dirty and you want to make sure you don't miss something hidden in the corner or something buried underneath other items. It is called human nature.

Some times the glass is fogged up and it's hard to see, hard to see is the key, not that they "can't" see what's in there.
