Governments ahose constituitions are based on books of religion are very intolerant of people with a different faith. religious preachers, OFTEN VERY ILL-INFORMED spread fear of punishment to practioners of other faith. WHY?

Because those states are NOT theocratic! God would have to be the sole ruler for a state to be theocratic. So guess who tells the masses that they are living in a theocracy? Men who are power-mad and out to make everyone under their control conform to what they say is right! You don't have to look at national states to see that. It happens in myriad religious denominations. It is part of the abuse of spiritual power and it stinks to high heaven.

They are very similar to totalitarion states of all stripes, dissent is not and cannot be tolerated.
