If he says he likes me and is happy how do I know he is telling the truth?

I used to be married to a man who loved me but treated me like dirt, so I am not very good at reading people's feelings.

That comes down to trust. Ask yourself is you have a reason to doubt what he is saying? If you don't have a reason to doubt it then you should definately not worry and try to find one out of the blue. In a relationship especially trust is the base of it and you have to trust to really love.

Don't trust them any futher than you can throw them. They will tell you anything and promise you the world to get what they want. And you know what that is. It's sad but true. Make him prove he cares about you over a long period of time before you give him "anything". He he really cares he will wait. If not, you're better off without him. Otherwise you end up hurt.
I'm an old geezer and past that stage myself, but I remember when I was young.

Treated you like dirt,...well even the soil grows things!
you as a human being deserve better than dirt.

you never know, we can not read minds,..

like the woman who studied the gorilla's, you have to spend a lot of time with the specimen you want to know. And even then, the gorilla could pull you apart,..life is like that. Pray.

The fact that you are not good at reading people puts you at a serious disadvantage not only in love but in life in general. My guess is you are going to continue to make stupid mistakes and fall in love with men who lack character. You will continue to ask friends and strangers if the guy who is obviously screwing around on you loves you blah blah blah...

I mean hell, I'm annoyed with you and I just read one paragraph from you but then again if you got an *** that just won't quit, I'd hang around too.

Good Luck with that honey.

Well if you have trouble reading peoples feelings and/or if they are not being honest with you then it may be hard to know if your being played or not. Most guys that are mature and secure with themselves and their relationship I would say are honest. But I suppose as with females there are people who are not honest with either themselves or their partners. Try and hone your ability to find out if people are being honest and it will do you good. That or believe in your instincts as they usually are correct. Good luck.

Does he spend time with you? Is he always happy around you? You have to give him the benefit of the doubt if he answered that way, at least until you see that he wasn't sincere. Talk to him about that. Just tell him you sense sometimes that he may not be as happy as he should.

men tend to be more honest and direct about what they want than women...we all know the famous women cry..i want a nice guy that treats me well, but first opportunity they go for the bad boy...guys lie because women have made it necessary in order to get anything from a girl...being honest and nice never pays....

p.s.skyehigh you seem a bit bitter towards men...let it go =)

How honest are women??

You sound insecure and doubtful, and if this negative energy consumes you, he will dump you, as you will fit the "high maintenance, needy, basket case" group of girls who men run a mile from. So get a grasp of things and don't let your bad experiences make your imagination run wild.

There is no way of knowing a person's real motive, especially when they are very good at what they do. Trust your instincts and pray that God will open your eyes.
