What is support.com doing in my computer?

The program "Support.com" seems to be preventing my ie7 to connect to the internet.....Will it be ok to remove support.com ? What is this program doing in my computer? and how did it get there?

It is a program on some Sony-based computers as well as others. I think its ok to delete it, since its part of the "bloatware" that alot of companies put on their computers now.
