How do i stop "Installer," from popping up all the time when i start up my win 2000 pro?

I have no idea what it's trying to install. But I click cancel, and it just keeps coming back. It says Windows Installer. Thanks for any help.

let it install, its a windows update
Microsoft sends regularly free software like IE 7.0, Windows Media Player 11, a new service pack, new antivirus....
I wouldnt recommend you to stop it
