Atarax will not cause a false positive on a urine test. Atarax (hydroxyzine HCl) is unrelated chemically to the phenothiazines, reserpine, meprobamate, or the benzodiazepines. It is classed as a piperazine antihistamine. Still, you need to inform the tester about all medications you are taking.
Here's the clinical stuff:
Atarax is not a cortical depressant, but its action may be due to a suppression of activity in certain key regions of the subcortical area of the central nervous system. Primary skeletal muscle relaxation has been demonstrated experimentally. Bronchodilator activity, and anti-histaminic and analgesic effects have been demonstrated experimentally and confirmed clinically, An antiemetic effect, both by the apomorphine test and the veriloid test, has been demonstrated. Pharmacological and clinical studies indicate that hydroxyzine in therapeutic dosage does not increase gastric secretion or acidity and in most cases has mild antisecretory activity. Hydroxyzine is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and Atarax's clinical effects are usually noted within 15 to 30 minutes after oral administration.
For symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and as an adjunct in organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested.
Useful in the management of pruritus (itching) due to allergic conditions such as chronic urticaria (hives) and atopic and contact dermatoses (rashes) , and in histamine-mediated pruritus.
As a sedative when used as pre-medication and following general anesthesia, Hydroxyzine may potentiate meperidine (Demerol) and barbiturates, so their use in pre-anesthetic adjunctive therapy should be modified on an individual basis. Atropine and other bella-donna alkaloids are not affected by the drug. Hydroxyzine is not known to interfere with the action of digitalis in any way and it may be used concurrently with this agent.
I've dispensed this for over 30 years. The most common problem with this drug is drowsiness.
Hope this helps.

OxyContin is the form call of a time-launch formulation of oxycodone produced by using the pharmaceutical corporation Purdue Pharma. It grow to be authorized by using the U.S. nutrition and Drug administration in 1995 and regular presented to the U.S. marketplace in 1996. by using 2001, OxyContin grow to be the superb-promoting non-conventional narcotic discomfort reliever in the united stateskeep in concepts the position I only placed "non-conventional". it truly is because Purdue Pharma is the in trouble-free words producer of OxyContin. for this reason, your instructor isn't pointing out the question acceptable. What he/she must have requested is: what's the lively opiod analgestic modern-day in OxyContin? the reply is oxycodone. OxyContin is a time-launch version. in case you ruin your leg, and so on... you'll maximum in all probability take delivery of oxycodone, no longer OxyContin.
