I was in the airforce for 2 years 9 months and I was medically discharged under honorble conditions for having been diagnosed with OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) My question is would this automatically DQ me from the Police Academy and becoming an actual police officer in the civilian world? I was a cop in the Airforce. I believe it was a lot to do with Maturity and the fact that I wasnt ready to be on my own. But I am more mature now and I want to save lives and become a cop. My question is Can I?

It is possible to still qualify to be an officer. Remember though there are lots of things you can do to help people, if the police field doesn't pan out, don't quit that great motivation you have. Something you might want to do is talk to people you know and find a friend of a friend how knows someone in a large police department. Once you have a contact, talk to this person and get a feel for what they think about your background. You may also want to do a ride along with them, do a college internship, things like that to help you become familiar with law enforcement and them with you.

I mean no disrespect with this but did you ever see the TV show "Monk"? This is a show about a detective with OCD. Here is a link, http://www.usanetwork.com/series/monk/

Good luck to you.

Apply, the can only say no. Your condition that existed before maybe gone. Take a try at the exam and see what happens. You have nothing to lose.

always possible, but as part of the hiring process, you will have a psychological evaluation which will certainly address any issues that you may have, so if the discharge is explainable and makes sense, you have had treatment, this may not be an issue

No way. Too many crazies on the force as it is. Gun nuts. Sadomasochistic sex freaks. Meth heads. Nazis. Thieves. Liars. Idiots. Halfwits. Nitwits. Waterheads.

And Methodists.

Best if you just pick a new line of work, son.
