Your ignorance amazes me...and yet it also appalls me too. Anyway, they were NOT put in jail for chasing an illegal immigrant drug dealer. They shot, tortured, and left an illegal immigrant drug dealer for dead without following proper protocol, which is what they're supposed to be doing in the first place. They fled from the scene and failed to disclose that they had shot the guy who was on his deathbed and where they had left him to die. All those two officers did after shooting a human being(regardless of whether or not he was an illegal immigrant drug dealer, he's still human whether you like it or not.) was leave the scene and act as if nothing happened. Those officers are only supposed to shoot at someone with a justifiable reason, and they had no reason. They're supposed to be protecting others from danger, and there are certain guidelines that they have to follow. This ain't no shootout at the O.K. Corral you know. Personally, those officers deserved the punishment that was handed down to them. They don't deserve any special treatment just because the person they were pursuing happened to be an illegal immigrant who was a drug dealer, shot him with no justifiable reason at all, left him to die while they fled the scene and didn't even report the whole thing at all.

Do you really think the US is trying to control the drug trade? I mean come on....if they wanted to stop drugs from entering this country they could. If they can put a satellite on the moon they can stop weed from crossing the border! Get serious people, the drug trade (and other crimes) is what keeps this country going...it keeps jails open, judges on the bench, cops on patrol, etc. You mean to tell me, they don't see the drugs coming over in the big planes, trains and automobiles, yet when it reaches US soil and lands in a drug dealers posession, THEN it's a big deal?? And I agree, they had no right to shoot that drug dealer and let him die...it's inhumane. They didn't have to kill him, they could've just injured him. They should've been put in jail for a very long time. I'm tired of the police doing crimes and getting a slap on the hand or "administrative leave" while they still get paid

I think if that was truly the case yes it is unfair. But I would have to look at all the facts in the case to make that choice, and then I would leave it up to our justice system, that's why we have it. So I can worry about other things in life.. like what I'm having for dinner.

Oh, you are taking about that Black Baptist 80 year old woman that was coming out of church using her walking frame?
They asked for her id and she says 'everyone knows who I am'. I guess the cops got mad.
Still, no excuse.
Sorry dear but one day you Americans are going to wake up to the fact that if you wave the goodies under peoples noses then they are going to come.
No you do not have the right to shoot them either. Read the constitution again.

Citizen or illegal alien... we still have basic human rights that our judicial system which includes our law enforcement officers is sworn to protect. All things must follow proper procedure and if unwarranted excessive force was used then those officers broke the law they swore to uphold.

No. Our police took and oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United STates and the laws of the land. Anyone who would uphold a charge against police who were doing their jobs is a traitor to the United STates of American and belongs in jail himself!

They aren't being put in jail for chasing an illegal immigrant drug dealer.
They're being put in jail for shooting him with no justification, torturing him, then leaving him to die. They're being put in jail for not reporting the shooting, not reporting that a human being they just shot was lying in the desert dying, but just went on about their business and left the man to die.
Yes, he was an illegal immigrant drug dealer. That doesn't give anybody -- most especially a law enforcement officer, who is supposed to uphold the law -- the right to shoot him and leave him to die.
They're being put in jail for breaking the law. Just like anyone else who breaks the law. They deserve no special treatment.
