My brother has left his 1951 truck in my driveway for four years. I don't know if he's got a lienholder or not, but I'm selling my home and it ruins the whole look. How do I go about selling it without a title? Does anyone know?

The truck is worth thousands of dollars per a neighbor that invests in old cars. So, I will not give it away. PS IT's out of character for my brother to be gone for so long w/o contacting a family member. We fear foulplay.

you have to write down the vin number and then call the dmv and tell them that you need to file for a lost title...or you could go the easy way...tell your brother that he has 7 days to get the truck out of your yad or else and if he doesnt than take it to the local acrap metal yard and get some money for it that way. it won't be much but at least you won't have the eye sore in you yard while you are trying to sell your home!

I'm not sure you can sell it. It's not yours. However, you can have it towed. Call the police department and tell them that a vehicle is illegally parked in your driveway. They may tow and impound it, or they can recomend a towing company that will do the same.
Give your brother notice that it will be towed (I'd give him a week... maybe 5 business days). If he doesn't come get the truck and you end up having it towed, just let him know where it is and then let him worry about it.
I'd recomend sending a certified letter to let him know when it will be towed and where it will be towed. It's $10 or so, but a house without an old truck has a much higher re-sale value.

I got rid of a couple of trucks that my son left here. One had a title and one didn't. The one that didn't have a title had to be dismantled before they would take it for scrap. Why not call your brother and tell him to take care of it? Or send you the title. If there isn't a title for it, he could give you a bill of sale. Vehicles have had titles since the 40's that I know of.

Easy... you can just sell it as is for parts.. just have any paperwork to track the vehicle to you. Sell it to someone who is gonna use it for parts. Sometimes old vehicles like that drop off the dmv system.. so you may be able to go down there with the vehicle identification number (vin) and check. If it did drop off, you can register it as your own.

Nice brother you have. Call the local police and tell them there is a vehicle in your driveway that does not belong to you and you would like it removed.
