Actually the way I understand it, there is but ONE lawmaker in Congress who HAD a son (a Marine) in Afghanistan.
I find it sad but unsurprising. Most old men have no compunction or releuctance to send young men and women off to war.
What makes me feel worse is Condi Rice's statements, comparing the unconsciable loss of human life in Iraq "an investment". How typical of a NeoCon Artist to reduce human life to monetary terms.

If there are six, then that is a greater rate of service than the population as a whole. I don't know where the 'half dozen or so' number comes from, though.

Big deal. The elite have always gotten a pass when it comes to enduring hard times. It's always been this way and I doubt this will change it. Part of life. It tends to encourage most people to want to better their situation don't you think?

I won't send my kids. The slaves,, I mean lower class people, are here for that type of work. MY kids are better than that.

Figures, do you think the guy who owns a factory has his wife and kid working in there? No....their mentality is "It's good enough for THEM, but not MY family" I highly recommend Fahrenheit 9/11 if you didn't see that yet.

They must be smart to make the kind of money they do, so I'll follow their examples by keeping my kids out of their war.

We have a volunteer Army, nobody has to serve regardless of their parent's occupation.
