I believe bacteria are what causes foot odor. Here is what I do: I wash them very well in the shower each morning using a soapy back brush and rinse well. Be sure you get them really dry afterwards. Then I have some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle that I spray on them liberally. Then top that off with some bath powder. Put on my socks and shoes. Ready to go. I have been doing this for years and it really works for me. I even spray a little alcohol in my shoes at the end of the day to keep them fresh. Don't spray too much or it could cause the glue holding the sole in to become separated from the shoe.
You can make your own foot spray by finding an essential oil that you like such as mint, lavender, citrus and mix it a few drops of it with the rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle. I kind of like the minty stuff, myself. You can also buy rubbing alcohol in wintergreen or orange citrus scents.
If your feet are in direct contact with your shoes and can't get air, this will also increase any odor problem. Nylons tend to do so as well. For work, though, I have to wear them sometimes and then I skip the powder but still use the alcohol.
Hope this helps.

wash your feet with a strong soap, Dial or SafeGuard, and dry them well, especially between your toes. You could have picked up a form of athletes foot. Are your open toe shoes clean where your feet touch them? If not, this will add to your problem. Avoid nylon type socks when you wear socks. If the condition continues for more than 2 weeks, talk to your doctor.

WHY DO MY FEET SMELL????
Everybody is familiar with this phenomenon. Most of us have a friend or relative who can clear out a room when they kick off their shoes. And even the sweetest smelling person can do a decent job stinking up a pair of shoes by running a few miles in them. So what's going on here? Why do your feet have a stronger odor than the rest of you does?

The main thing that feeds foot smell is sweat. With more than 250,000 sweat glands each, your feet are among the most perspiring parts of the body. In one day, each foot can produce more than a pint of sweat! Sweat is basically just salt and water, though, so it doesn't have a distinctive smell of its own. The smell is actually caused by bacteria on our skin that eats the sweat and excretes waste that has a strong odor. It's perfectly normal to have bacteria on your skin, and it doesn't ordinarily produce a noticeable smell, but sweat attracts bacteria and gives them a whole lot to feed on.

Of course we sweat all over -- our hands have a comparable number of sweat glands, for example -- and most of the rest of our body doesn't particularly stink (the armpits being a notable exception). So what's different about our feet? The answer is our socks and shoes. The sweat our feet excrete can't easily escape into the air like the sweat our hands excretes -- it all collects on our skin and in our socks. The bacteria love this dark, damp feast and have a sort of feeding frenzy. When you take off your shoes, the smell that hits you is all the bacteria excretion that's collected on your feet and in your socks and shoes.

The main reason some people's feet (or more precisely, some people's socks and shoes) smell worse than other people's is that some people sweat more than other people. This is just one of the many variable physiological qualities of human beings. This is also why sometimes your feet smell much worse than at other times -- it all has to do with how much you sweat.

So, since foot odor is caused by bacteria digesting sweat, there are two main ways to reduce the stink.
You can:

decrease the amount of bacteria on your feet

decrease the amount of sweat that collects on your feet and in your shoes

Reducing the level of bacteria is really a matter of cleanliness.
To control the bacteria population on you feet, you should:

wash your feet with strong anti-bacterial soap

wear clean socks don't wear the same shoes everyday
give a pair of shoes 24 hours or more to air out before wearing them again
To reduce the amount of sweat that collects in your shoes, you should:

wear well-ventilated shoes instead of very constrictive shoes, such as boots
always wear socks, preferably made of cotton or other absorbent materials that absorb a lot of the sweat so the bacteria can't feed on it
change your socks a few times a day
buy some absorbent Odor-Eater type shoe inserts apply an antiperspirant to your feet.
If your foot odor is really bad and these solutions don't help much, then you should see a doctor. There are a number of prescription drugs that can treat serious foot odor, some by killing bacteria and some by reducing foot sweat.

It is a known fact that people have different odor systems. For the person whose sweat glands produce an unpleasant odor it is a real problem.

My friends young 12 yr old daughter started having this problem and about 1 hr after she had bathed she had a horrible under arm odor and nothing helped.

My Mom, told her it may be an old wives tale.. but to take chlorophyll tablets or eat lots of parsley... Mother Nature's natural purifier. She choose the tablets.

It worked... or I would not be telling you about it today. (smiles)

Hey, Check this out.. I just found it in google... I think I will

Your feet don't smell! The odor does; which is caused from your feet that begin to sweat when they are covered. That sweat combined with the material covering your feet cause the odor...Add a small amount of powder to your feet when you have head into the office...This will help!

It's probably your shoes. Even though you can wash your feet and socks, etc., your shoes probably never get washed so they retain the sweat, etc. I mean, who washes the inside of their shoes? Very few people I would imagine. Even open toed shoes keep sweat from your feet in the soles. When you put the shoes on, it reactivates the sweat from the last time you wore them and it gets back on your feet.

Maybe you suffer from some sort of foot perspiring disease? Been to the doctor yet? It may seem small to you, but it could turn out to be something big. So go check it out, or research it on the internet. If all else fails...Goody's Foot Powder!!

It has very little to do with the pigment of the skin.

You probably suffer from a nervous anxiety disorder and should seek psychiatric care. The are psychologists and medical doctors.
